Hi. I just joined TKD like two months ago, and I love the sport, but my class sucks, to say the least.
I joined TKD for discipline. But, my class is FULL of little kids--we have at least 10 kids in there under the age of 7. This really gets me because some of them are a higher belt than I am, but they do NOTHING to earn it. Such as, one little girl joined my class about a month after I did. We use the little 'stripes' system--one if you learn your basic forms, one for your belt level forms, one for your one-step sparring, and the final stripe that signifies that you are ready to test for your next belt. I currently have two stripes on my belt. It took me a month to get them, and I worked hard for them. She's been there for about five, maybe six classes, (about two and a half weeks) and already she's caugt up to me, and she doesn't really work for it. Needless to say, this hacks me off a bit.
A few of the little kids are bullies. While we were reciting the Pledge at the beginning of class, two of the kids were pushing each other, and the instructor does nothing. This occurrs quite frequently, and I'm tired of it. The class is so filled with little people that the instructor pays no attention to the ones that are there for discipline and real training. My friend, who is a green belt, and my mom, and a few other people I know, said that I was ready for testing for my next belt long ago, but the instructor does not notice anyone. My question is: does anyone know how I can approach my instructor about this? Keep in mind that I'm not all that old (only 13) and I don't want to go yell at my instructor. I also cannot find any other classes that would fit my schedule. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!
Sarah
