  • The Martial Arts Channel (MAC)

    Hi Everyone,

I'm a martial artist from Taiwan and I love this forum. I recently heard about a new cable television network called The Martial Arts Channel (MAC). I checked out their site and it's pretty cool. Their video promo is impressive. I hope they promote the martial arts in a positive way. It seems like they already are. I also heard about Black Belt TV but I'm really concerned about their negative message. What do you guys think? Is there room for two martial arts television companies? What do you think of (MAC)? Here's some links to their site and video page:

Well, that sucks 'cuz I don't get either...but here's what gives the MA's a bad name: ESPN. They have these totally crapfest specials with little kids running around and doing flips with weapons they don't know how to use. People breaking bricks and thinking they're bad ass. NOT good. It would be different if they were doing a regular kata that doesn't involve jumping and flipping...but it would be even better if they were full-contact sparring...oh well, that's just my opinion.

What style MA do you take?

      I think it's pretty cool

Actually, I think the Martial Arts Channel idea is pretty cool. If only ESPN would show martial arts related events I think all martial artists would be hooked. Since they're not, I'll be looking forward to "MAC". By the way, I practice Shaolin 5 animals. How bout you?

Sanshinkai. It's not a well-known MA, but it mixes about 6 MA's into one, so it was cool. I get a pretty well-rounded workout, learning grappling moves, judo, jui jitsu, tuitae (sp?) TKD (lol) and karate. There's something else...but I can't remember what it is (kinda sad that I can't remember). I'm looking for a Ninjitsu or Aikido school around here, and if I get lucky, there might be a Muay Thai school...but I doubt it.

Shaolin 5 animals eh? I have always been interested in that.

          MAC Live

Their "MAC Live" video is pretty cool. I just checked it out. By the way, does anyone practice Wu Shu in here?
