  • I tottally agree Biz

I haven't been on this forum long Biz, but already I can tell you're one of the more realistic intelligent posters. It's hard to imagine that there are actually people on this forum that think Tyson would have NO chance in NHB. Sickning to say the least.

What's sickening is the way you guys kiss the ass of a convicted rapist/cannibal/washed-up punk like Tyson. Sure, Tyson could beat some guys with crappy takedowns, but that's it. To say he could stop the shoot/clinch of an even moderately-talented grappler with a few months of training shows a total ignorance of MMA.

      Biz:

Tank has lost for a lot of reasons. Just to name a few:

      Mediocre grappling skill (Severn)
      Poor balance (Frye)
Poor strike defense; kicks (Mo Smith, Rizzo)
Lack of conditioning (Oleg, Ferrozzo, Smith)
Lack of heart (most of his losses)

Tyson has many of the same problems. NO grappling being the most glaring among them, but also no kicking skill or defense, poor conditioning for MMA (which is more anaerobic than boxing), and a lack of heart and discipline.

I hope Tyson comes to MMA so he can receive the spanking he so richly deserves and for which he is so long overdue. Maybe then you guys will finally realize he is not invincible.

      I doubt it though.

I agree with everything in your post.Tyson is a hard puncher and all,but I think it would take more than what he knows to defeat a good Bjj fighter such as Royce.

Tyson is Human,I know thats hard for all of you Tyson lovers to understand but its true!Tysons arms, legs, and neck can be broke like any other humans.

I would love to see Ken shamrock in the ring with Mike Tyson, shamrock would have no mercy on Tyson!

        • Hey Ronin, first off, Tyson didn't rape nobody. I won't even get into that one. Second, more importantly, I don't kiss no ones ass. I just think it's funny how people like you live in a dream world where any weekend warrior with 6 months BJJ training, someone like yourself, could beat even a top level AMATEUR boxer. I am not a Tyson dick rider like some people, I just have something called common sense. And that common sense tells me that if scrubs like Belfort, Tank and Igor could KO people than I think it's safe to say Tyson could do the same.

The UFC has NEVER seen a top level boxer. NEVER. And it never will because the Roy Jones' of the world will not fight for the chump change that the UFC offers.

I respect grappling a great deal. I was very impressed when I went down for one session with Renzo Gracie and his students. But to say a grappler will ALWAYS beat a boxer is insane.

Also, why do you people assume if Tyson gets taken down, he's f u c k e d? The man is obviously strong, so I say, you never know.

I don't want to get into it either, but obviously Tyson's jury thought otherwise. No one knows what really happened besides him and Washington, so I'll let that one go.

When did I say I could beat an amateur boxer? I never said that, YOU did. I will say that if I trained as hard in what I do as the boxer I would have a good shot, but I never said anything boastful about myself. Sorry, dude.

Belfort, Tank, and the other people you mentioned are successful in MMA because they have GRAPPLING skill that allows their boxing skills to come into play. Otherwise, they would be easily taken down. And strength doesn't mean much when you don't know how to use it. If a top grappler puts Tyson's on his back, it's over, he's finished. Sooner or later he will tap, sleep, or have an arm broken.

My point is that if a MMA'er and a boxer train equally hard for an MMA fight, the MMA'er will win, unless the boxer is doing serious cross-training, and not just for six months.

I'll believe a boxer can beat a top MMA'er when I see it, not before.

I'm glad you don't kiss Tyson's ass. He's been to jail you know.

              • Internet challenges away!!!

The hardest sparring partner I ever had was my father who was a Golden gloves champion for years on end.
I know the feeling of getting put on my butt.

HOWEVER, I could still take him down and lock him up.
But I respect the art very much.

Ronin, you know what the cool thing about the grappling arts are? (and this is not insuating anything with Tyson )
But it's great if you actually DO get the chance to fight a convicted rapist. There's something about the thought of a rapist underneath me yelling "HELP! GET HIM OFF ME! SOMEONE! HELP!" that makes me giddy! D
                muahahahahaha!

(again that is not implying Tyson is a rapist, etc)

I agree 100% about boxing,I respect boxers for what they do.My challenge was not because I hate the guy it was because I want to fight a better boxer than the ones I have fought,so I can get better at fighting.

Royce wrote the article. It was in one of the "Ultimate fighter" columns I believe.

                    • Are you serious?

Hey Robbie, no offense pal, but I'm not gonna spend my hard earned money to buy a plane ticket to SC just so I can go blood for blood with some guy I met on the internet.

However, if you're serious, anytime you're in Albany, NY, I'd be more than happy to spar(boxing), roll, or even fight ya (street or NHB). I agree with you saying that you want to fight a better boxer to make you a better fighter. That's why when I started doing BJJ I didn't get pissed off when those guys tapped me left and right. But I became a better fighter for it. Anyway, it'll be nothing personal, after we fight we'll go get a couple of beers and **** some broads!

True,I was just checking for maybe a sparring partner if you decided to come down here, not many top notch boxers down here.I have been in a number of Kickboxing matches though,so I'm always trying to improve my skill. If I ever decided to take a trip to New york I'd like to spar with a few good boxers.

                        • To tell you the truth...

For realistic streetfighting and NHB fighting, I'd train in boxing, not kickboxing. Train with good boxers instead of good kick boxers. A good boxer will beat a good kickboxer anyday, even with kickboxing, Muay Thai rules. In their respected fields Evander Holyfield(boxing) and Maurice Smith(kickboxing, Muay Thai) are said to at one time be the best. At their primes, do you know the punishment that Evander would unleash on Smith? Mind boggling!

If you like to mix kicks in with your arsenal, I'd go with Muay Thai instead of kickboxing. A good, tough Thai boxer could give a boxer ALOT of trouble.
