yeah the whole preachin in class is pretty weak, your told enough how to live your life and having to put up not steping on peoples toes during the day without having to go to your MA class and listen to someone spout there beliefs, keep that stuff at home

As far as I can tell the only success they had was .. in 1997 they got An "Injunction" that allow'd them to fight in a tournyment without bowing. I will have another look around though because it is very interesting

            They Won!!

I train with both laloni, and Jimmy at their step dads school.
I think they won the appeal because the International Judo Federation or whatever it's called caved in. Now all you have to do is just bow to your apponent. You don't have to bow to the mat, or a picture of a dead guy. I think that is reasonable, adn would bow.

Thats alot of ... "I think" is this just recently the won the appeal? as I cant find anything about them even making an appeal. They were only thinking about it. You dont have to bow to the mat or the guy unless you are at an official tournyment anyways.

This case to me is like .. these two ppl trying to sue the japanese people for making you take your shoes off before you enter their house. Its just a tradition. Anyways the way I see it .... both of them are all ready going to hell because they have on more than one occasion dismissed their beliefs and bow'd to the picture. If it were truely against their religion they wouldnt have done it. Either that or they are not true beleivers.

                maybe

That is hypicritical of them to go against their believes and bow in those other two tournaments. But, their mother is Japanese and they are also Budhist so she didn't want them to bow to inadament objects but she also didn't want them to give up Judo. I talked to the coach at the Judo center and he says, "they did not appeal, and that it was the Judo Federations decision to change the ruling". Hope that answers your question.

What is this serious? You dont bow to the founder of the art, or dont bow to respect the dojo or anything, That is a whole load of crap, bowing is essential, you have to keep tradiotion that is whay most people take martial arts. These christian guys are silly people to be honest why even take a MA if you know you have to bow, they just making a big deal out of nothing.

Bowing to show respect is not against christianity, this is why they lost their court case. How can you be both budhist and christian THAT is hypicritical. I can understand one parent being christian and one being budhist but .. the children cant be both .. as it conflicts. This is a classic case of how messed up some people are.

The hilarious thing is the Bible tells Christians not to use the worldly court setting like that. lol

Honestly though, private institutions are supposed to have the right to make their own rules. And certain MA's are very closely tied with certain religions and philosophies. For example, it would be wrong for me to move to Japan to learn under an old Ninjitsu instructor and then say "no, I won't meditate and you have to change all this Shintoist/Buddhist stuff because I'm Muslim."
