    Interesting matchup.

I think of the fights listed (Severn, Shamrock, Kimo, Hackney, Jackson, etc.) this fight has a different element. Royce-Jackson isn't even a comparable fight. If you make a mistake against Jackson, he'd take you down.. exactly what Royce wants. You make a mistake a mistake against Goodridge, and he knocks your head off.

    The other big guys Royce fought;

Severn: Grappler, no serious punching threat
Kimo: Brawler, not a great grappler OR striker.
Hackney: Pure striker, no real ground defense (this was
also REALLY early in the MMA scene)
Shamrock: No serious knockout threat; not exactly "dang
    impressive"

I don't think Royce has fought anyone who was a threat for a 1 punch knockout, and could do a decent job of avoiding the takedown. Very dangerous combination.

That being said; Royce by armbar at 20 minutes, but not before being punished by Goodridge.

      Sounds like the Royce/Kimo fight
(did that end in a choke, or armbar? I can't remember)

Jimmy23, yes, shattered does sound scarier, but let's face it, Tyson doesn't need us to make him any scarier than he already is. The man doesn't really belong in a civilized society anymore. Let's start some big Fight Island where we throw all the psychos/dregs of society and let guys like Tyson pound some respect into them for our amusement (sounds almost like the UFC, huh ).

personally Id like to see Tyson get banned from boxing and go into NHB,since he couldnt fight anywhere else. This would push NHB into the big leagues here in America,Especially if Iron Mike got beat.Im thinking Kerr or Coleman here,it would have to be one of the very best heavyweights.Or,for a real freakshow,Randleman vs Tyson would be great! All itll take is one more Tyson rage out and boxing will boot him for sure.

Sorry Jimmy, but boxing will NEVER ban their cash-cow.

I mean, what does he have to do to get banned? Bite someone's ear off?

            Hmmmm ...

If Royce "comes back" I wonder what the temperature of his face will be from the humiliation after he hobbles away from the ring A LOSER for the second time in a row?

            Yours truly,

            Joe

There is no shame in losing. How much humilation do you feel for never having professionally stepped in the ring? Royce is warrior who goes to war. What do you do?

As far as Royce fighting Goodridge, I'd like to see it. I think Royce performs better against much larger opponents, because he gets an advantage in speed and mobility. Smaller guys are stronger and just as quick as Royce.

                LOL, how about you Punchy?

Me? I feel no humiliation for not competing; but I do feel good sleeping in when pros wake up at 4am to do their roadwork. What a grind.

                Yours truly,

                Joe

Goodridge would be susceptable to a submission or choke for sure. I like GG and it always annoys me when he loses. I think he is better than his record indicates. I wishe he would KO some big name fighter so he got the respect he desreves.
Has he ever been armbarred? The former world Arm Wrestling champion might be a very tough guy to armbar. Royce would have to use more leverage than he's ever used before I think.
Goodridge is a strong mofo with good all round skills. I think the fight might end up like Shamrock-Gracie2 and be really boring with GG trying to pound royce whilst mounted in the guard.

I agree Royce not coming back. His skills are good but really dated and nobody's falling for it no more.

Hey Joe Manco maybe you should fight him instead of squawking about how that acorn head Tyson somehow gonna beat him.

I'll give you $50 and Ronin let you see him naked!

LOL! I can do WAYYYYYYYY better than Joe Manco!

I think there are several species of animal I would consider fornicating with before I would touch Manco.

                        Let the bestiality jokes begin!

What a joke! Royce would finish Goodridge within a minute. I can't believe many of you are dissing Royce after all the accomplishment he has done. You people are sick!! Royce has proved his great skills and he is still a great fighter. Now shut the **** up.

Relax! I'm not dissing Royce! I think he would win, but given Gary's punching power, size, and MMA experience, I think it would be a tough fight for Royce.

It's not like Gary isn't familiar with what Royce would try to do to him. Remember Varelans/Moreira? It might look like that, only Gary strikes better.

I think it would be a fun fight, and would give us a good idea where both of those guys stand in the MMA pecking order.

                                Ronin,

I hate to spoil your illusion but Royce in not Moreira. You cannot compare typical BJJer like Moreira to a Gracie. Royce knows how to deal with a bigger opponent using the right technique at the right time unlike most of today's BJJers. Goodridge is experienced? Experienced of what??!! Don't tell me he's more experienced than Royce. This matchup is so pathetic, I'm taking it as an insult on Royce.
