Went to see a Karate class that im considering joining, Ive got mixed feelings about the class so im wondering if anyone can shed some light of wether its any good.
Shotokan Karate
Kanazawa Ryu
International
Federation
(S.K.K.I.F)
I want to follow a different path in martial arts than wot ive trained before. I want to empasise on Power Form and technique
So i decided Karate would be a good way to go. The thing is is how much of a karate class is dedicated to Competing and how much is dedicated to Martial Combat which is why it was created in the first place. I wanted to get as close to the roots as karate as i possibly could without training in japan.
I just thought that with Karate being so popular in competitions has it been watered down from the original style. The only point that put me off the class was.
Thier black belts lacked form and full comitment in some of thier techniques. So wot does a black belt mean, Does it mean youve trained like a bitch and And are at your physical peek. Or does it mean your good at KATA
Next when they were warming down they started to free spare. I could see that the way they was fighting looked like point scoring, Rather than out fighting thier oponent they were just trying to get one quick hit in then move out quick.
Near the end of the class i heard the instructer say to a student you must be faster than that as you wont score any points that way.
Good bits were.
For a change the instructer seemed good lots of form and power Also it was a big class he bragged one of the biggest in the UK
He has about 80 Adults training under him in one class.
So wot do you recon
