This is a question more than an opinion.

Regarding Sakuraba, didn't he get shalacked by Vanderlei Silva? And Vanderlei Silva was shalacked by Vitor Belfort.

I've seen a couple of his fights, and if Saku deserves to be on the list, so does Vitor at the same, if not higher, level.

Note the conditions by whitch he lost. Doctors stop lots of fights where the actual outcome is still uncertain.

            kungfu, point taken.

I guess it's tough to say who the better fighter is from analysing match outcomes. A beats B, then C beats A. You would assume that C is the best fighter.

However, that links shows that it does not follow that C can beat B or if any one of those fighters is 'better' than the other.

How DO you grade a fighter? How does a fighter become the BEST fighter? What IS a 'best fighter'?

I don't think anyone can be THE BEST fighter for too long. Some hotshot is always popping up and getting a win streak...then he fades away fast and another joe hotshot starts to win alot then he is the best for the time being.

Bruce Lee was a great innovator of MA and had great ideas "outside the box." He is a true pioneer of modern MA. But hardly a fighter. I do not say this to soil his reputation, but Bruce Lee was bigger than a fighter. The ideas he introduced were so radical for his time. He was a Martial Artist and an actor.

Dong hai chuan, founder of ba gua and undefeated.

Wang shu chin, undefeated Ba gua master who took challenges from any style. Early this century he would break peoples spines as a way to finish encounters quickly! There is more to fighting than competition!!
