  • Testing for my Full Instructorship in JKD

I'm leaving by bus on March 14 to test for my Full Instructorship in JKD from Paul Vunak. Please wish me luck. I've been training really hard the past 3 months and have gotten in better shape then I've been in before. The test will probably cover some light NHB, some full contact stick fighting (Dog Brothers style), teaching ability, mass attacks, full out boxing, and BJJ.

I'll let you know how I do at the end of the month.... but I'm not coming back without it. As of now this thing is mine!
It'll be a hard test, but I'm ready for it.

    Wish me luck guys.

              First off good luck!

How long did it take you to get to this point & how did you work the training with VU?

              Expensive?

I started training JKD in 1993. But it was about 1996 when I began being officially taught. My first real teacher was Thom Cruse (whose under Paul Vunak)
I kept up the training with others who were doing the same, and was able to go down to LA in 1998 to train with Paul for a time. After that I joined Carlos Machado's BJJ academy, and moved onto a judo school.

I'd say it's taken me.... maybe 7 years to get to this. 10 if you count the three years of just solo training without a guide.
