Texas: A God-forsaken Hell on Earth

Obviously (I thought) in the above post I was making fun of all the people nationwide who are telling all these lies about Texas.

Texas is a fantastic place to live. It could use more of some things and less of others, but on the whole, it's a fantastic place to live.

The Texas economy Rocks! There is no state income tax in Texas. The land is beautiful. The people are beautiful. I have a 9 & 11 year old. The schools are excellent. It's a very nice place to live.

Look at all the people on this board who live in Texas because they want to. Heck, the forum you are reading comes to you from Texas.

i knew you were not serious because I have been there and know that it is pretty nice.

then again it was nice for me, a well paid professional working for a wealthy, multi-national with a rental car and per diem.

The Germans felt the same way in WW2 because of Audie Murphy. What's really funny is all us Texas folk look at the rest and die laughing. Quite frankly, the only place I'd rather be is southern CA., however a house in that area
costs 3/4 mil and the same house here is about 75 grand. What Duvall said was pretty much how the Army felt because they were jealous. The Commanche's and Apache's had rather deal with the whole US calvary then the Texas Rangers at that time. McNelly's Raiders were the scourge of Apache, Commanche, and the Mexican Border Outlaws. The part I thought Duvall did well in was playing Gus in Lonesome Dove. The idea that a man dying in Montana (Gus) and wanting his buddy to bring him back to Texas (Woodrow)
to be buried, and the buddy doing it in that day & time personifies the heart that the people in Texas have always had and that's what made Texas great, then & now.
