It doesn't seem to take much to get a sore jaw! I remember just being "tapped" on the jaw with a jab, and not being able to eat after training! It took me an hour to eat a portion of chips!

hmm how does everyone else fare?

We train pretty basically full contact when we spar.

I don't however, I train hard but if i create openings that give me clear punches I use them, but make sure I pull them - I know they are there and that'd i'd "taken" then, no need to hurt the people they work with. They don't pull any of their punches tho, I just got caught unfortunately. Pist off tho. I did a LOT of rounds 2day, because I'm trying to get my stamina better. When I got hit my mouth was slightly open which is probably why its f**ked. grrrrrrrrrrrr. lol.

I make it clear to who ever I spar with that I will spar with the same contact level that they do.

I usually pull my technique at point of contact. But if someone intentionlly blasts me they will recieve the same blast with in a few seconds.

        What's fair is fair.

Jaw injuries suck! I had my jaw broken. I was wearing a mouthpiece and had my mouth closed tightly and it still broke!

          Hope you heal up!

excessive, thats what I'm like - I pull at the point of contact especially on my clean shots etc that I KNOW would have been big hits - I'm not out to hurt my friends, or start brawlin if it gets outta control lol. one of my mates kept saying you get your clean shots good, but theres no power behind them. I was like mate I'm not trying to knock them out here. dickhead.

It's just the way they train - they all go in full all the time, that's all. It works me harder I guess I can live with it.

              healing an injured jaw

Anyone have a quick treatment for an injured jaw? I have also worn a mouth piece with my jaw clenched while receiving an upper cut - hook to the jaw. I didn't think anything of it until I took my mouth piece out and I had difficulty opening/closing my mouth coupled with a sharp pain in my jaw.

On the way home from the gym, I lightly chewed on some gum to keep the muscles moving and after an hour or so, the pain from opening/closing my jaw diminished, but the sharpness was still there. I then put an icepack on the side that hurt the most. After a day, the pain went away.
