    hmm.

well, someone said something about gladiators i agree on that society itself has grown more efficient, timewise anyway.. BUT we have also grown weaker.. less strong! we may live longer, but we aren't in better shape.. and master of one still beats jack of many trades (or how that stupid saying goes but yes, I agree with you in the fact that onesided training helps you in some situations, but you aren't prepared for all of the encounters you can face in the world today! but that goes for everything.. what if you have a gun.. you'd still be twice as dangerous if you had the technique to kick/strike/grapple.. what IF you have a knife? the best knife-fighters rely a lot on their kicks.. punches.. divertions! so yes.. we HAVE to be diverse.. we have to be able to change.. to flow! shape your body into water..

you so positive cain that i can't hate you for that.
but yea u are right. the kids aren't even as crazy as i was as a kid. it's just more programs, more using your brain and not brawn. they teach computers at school, it's normal but my little cousin is 12 and can browse pretty good.

but this era of mixed martial artist are real skilled. i'm looking forward to the future.. of what it can bring. fighters, techniques..

but again the street is diffrent. someone putting me in the guard at a club or something i'm gonna strike his groin, his eyes all that..

at one point i stopped training because just a few months ago i stopped someone with a strike to the balls. made me feel like ..damn all the knowledge i have i can be stopped with a strike to the balls too if i'm not careful.. my eyes too, but i didn't stop for long. just enough to see everything on diffrent angles..

the angle is u have to be preped for anything.. so i kept training..
martial arts isn't my first love, but it's my infatuation. i cheat on my first hobby with martial arts. lol

I agree - I think martial arts are evolving, and definitely for the better.

I've been working with computers for about ten years now, so I'm quite proficient with them, but that isn't really because of the public education with computers around here. When I started school in '93, there were only three computers in the school, BBC Micros at that, and they didn't play a very large part. Then, come '97 or '98, the newer Pentium I PCs came in to the school, and they were used quite a lot.

From what I hear, back at Trinity they now have a designated computer room that certainly wasn't there before, so I do agree with the point that computers are being used more these days instead of more physical activities...

        Oh, and hi all.

I agree. But I also think the person makes the fighter not the style he trains in. However as a stand up striker karate/muay Thai I do lack the skills to fight on the ground. I love to watch a good boxing match or muay thai match but I confess my computer and my vcr cabnet are full of ufc, pride and other mma compitions. I love the whole nhb arena. As I watch these guys I’m amazed. At first (years ago) You would see guys who could grapple very well but couldn’t strike worth a shit and guys who could strike but not grapple, also guys who could do neither . Today these guys (most anyway) can do a good job at both. The strikers have learned to grapple, and the grapplers have leaned to strike. These guys are more amazing and devastating than ever. The level of competitors has really risen. The popularity of ground fighting has risen at that’s a good thing.

I would love to enhance my training to include ground fighting but there are no schools near where I live that teach it. I think I’ll start a thread about this soon.
