I agree, I don't want to see a nation of people who get f*cked up all the time and don't care about anything either but look at our country now. do you think legalizing pot will turn the country into that? drinking is legal the whole country isn't drunk right now is it? Tell ya the truth I think this country is going steeply downhill anyway and it ain't cause of drugs.

I don't smoke, I have tried it a couple times and don't really like it. That being said, I'm 100% for legalization.
Someone suggested that legalization would create some kind of moral decay because then it looks like the government is advocating it. This idea represents a real problem with how people look at government today. Government should not be in the business of telling you what is right and wrong. People, either individually or in groups of like minded individuals should make those decisions. Get rid the whole stupid war on drugs.

But seriously, I think the reason pot is looked down upon is because of the people who smoke it. I hate almost 80% of the people I get herb, or smoke randomlly with. I consider my group of friends pretty cool people but its really the juvenile kids we hang out with who can't even leave my apartments after blazing in my backyard without tagging up somewhere. I think people tend to over look that bad kids smoke pot, not pot smoking turns kids bad. Also, another thing about people acting stupid stoned is pretty ridiculous and depends on the person. When I was younger [around 14 and a half] I first started smoking pot and I had no clue how I was supposed to act. So, I would act dumb and slow even when I wouldn't get high because I couldn't inhale. Then, maybe at 17 and a half when I started smoking regularly [as in everyday], I acted pretty dumb the first month or so because I couldn't handle that much pot like my friends could. HOWEVER, as time passed by, I bet you couldn't tell I was high and that would be without Visine. Either way, pot is too serious of an issue to be legalized anytime soon. I guess I'm not an optimistic person...

Leagalized It!! We shouldnt even have to have this discussion. In a mature FREE society we would have those rights. Prohabition is an insane concept WAY past its prime. Very simple.
As a matter of fact i'll smoke some and think about it

I was wondering what your opinion on pot is. I know you talked about drugs [I don't consider pot a drug, but if you want, I'll just say "heavy" drugs] but I was wondering what kind of experience you had with pot users. I've never been caught, but my friends did and none of them seemed to have made a scene. Just thinking more like, "****, I got caught, I hope this Pig dies" and then just going home, arguing with his mom, and then going out to smoke pot again. I'm glad you actually addressed this issue well and not in the way you said you would've 15 years ago

Klif,
I find your insights interesting. I am wholeheartedly against the legalization of drugs, but I have not had your exposure to the issue. I am considering pursuing a career in Federal Law Enforcement (I can already hear the comments...), particularly in drug enforcement. I can appreciate your point of view, but I can't imagine myself changing my viewpoint...I almost feel like it would be giving up on the situation.
I agree...this country could solve the problem if we were dedicated enough...erradication programs, stiffer penalties, etc...it's a matter of where our priorities are, and hence where our money is. Right now, it is in other places. Do you mind if I ask you how much you have worked with federal agencies, and what your opinion of them is?
I am not sure how many people on this board have children, but my wife just had our first son 8 weeks ago. It was easily the best day of my life...I cannot imagine trying to raise a child in a society where we condone the use of drugs...I am already in a panic as to how to keep him away from the stuff, and I still have another 10 years or so before I have to deal with it!
One of the things I would like forum members with children (especially young children) to think about, is whether or not they would welcome a legalization pilot program in their neighborhood, where their children go to school, and play...this is not meant to be fodder for an argument, just something to think about.
Later all...

NDIrish...
Would you mind if I asked you about pot? Thats all I'm intersted in and that was the intent of this post. If your kids grew up in a society where pot was legal, how different would it be from a society were drinking is legal? I think if Marijuana was legal, I wouldn't have been so interested in trying it in the first place. I don't know how old you are, but I'm giving you the point of view of a teenager

***I cannot imagine trying to raise a child in a society where we condone the use of drugs***
Do you know how weird that sounds? We do condone the use of drugs, but not drug abuse. Legalizing all the drugs wouldn't mean our country is condoning drug abuse, but responsible use of them.
Even without legalization, the people that want to get loaded WILL get loaded. The ones who are smart enough to stay away will do so.
I honestly wish there was a way to keep everyone off drugs, but there's not. Since there is no way, we must learn to live with it.

haha, 100 dollars. I get it for 80 from my boy Tyler, but when I was up in Arizona I was gonna sell it for 90 to these kids. At least I was planning on it until they offered to give me 110$ and I was like, "hey, why not rip off some kids at my friend's college"
And that was that
