I doubt Tank could bench 600 lbs clean or on. Very few people can. I saw him do the "600" bench. Who knows if all the plates were even real. He could have had a mixture of real plates and wooden plates. Probably was a nice piece of propaganda for the UFC. I don't believe anyone can do 600lbs unless I see it with my own eyes or read the results in Power Lifting USA.

L3fthook and Vortex,
You guys are right; When it comes to armwrestling, bet on Gary. I've seen him armwrestle when he was at weights of
200-220 and also at 250-260lbs. He was always awesome!
Although I have been around the armwrestling tournament scene for a number of years I have not seen him pull for quite some time.
Gary was the Canadian Heavyweight armwrestling champ
and the Yukon Jack Champion. At the Yukon Jack, Gary beat
the then 15+years undefeated reigning champion, 600+lb Clive Dean(the second time they matched up)
As far as I know, the only 2 men to defeat Gary in his
"prime" were Clive Dean and present 5x world champion, 200lb
John Brezink.
It has been said that Gary can arm curl weights of 250lbs
with one arm! (don't quote me on that though)
Igor,Kerr, and Coleman are very strong men but they would have some trouble with Gary if they pulled with him.
Too bad Gary doesn't grapple like he armwrestles!!

I too saw the UFC clip of Tank benching 600lbs. and I think that it was a legit non-steroid lift. Don't forget that there are some really strong people who just have tremendous natural strength. Mike Tyson is said to have benched 250lbs. for ten reps the first time he ever touched a weight-The Fire and Fear an Unauthorized Bio on Iron Mike. And two time worlds strongest man Bill Kazenmaier is said to have benched 400 lbs with no training at all.
Plus you have to remember that Tank did time in jail and there are plenty of huge and natural guys in the Pen.

I know a guy named C.T. Fletcher, and he benched damn near 600 maybe more. But he did it with a special shirt on, but I believe it was during a competition.
C.T. is huge, Huge, HUGE, and you would believe that he could do something like that with all his training... but he lived in the weightroom. That's a kind of dedication that I doubt Tank has ever had.

Ground Control,
I used to be sceptic until a few months back at my home gym. I watched one of the locals go through some of his chest routine. He warmed up on bench with a quick 20 reps with 2 plates (44lb each) on each side plus olympic bar. (approx. 220). He then jumped to 4 plates per side at which time I thought I must have caught the end of his bench routime. He repped 10 with ease. His next set was with 6 on each side !! My f**king jaw dropped. You work out the weight with bar ! With a spot there in stand by mode, no assistance, he repped out 10 !!! Until that time, I did not think that was possible. He was obviously on the juice, but regardless, who knows what more he could have done. He stopped there ! I would be very impressed if Tank could bench 600. The guy I saw was a freak and had never seen anyone come even close to that weight. Maybe Tank can do it...who knows.

Rockape- 585lbs 10 times!!!!, Sorry Bro I have to see it to believe it. That is a feat which would require World Record caliber strength. I may believe 500lbs for 10 maybe but not 585lbs. Is this guy a regular at your gym? Ask him what his one rep max is.
The Great Bill Kazmire never benched more than 660 lbs in a contest. I assure you he never did 10 reps with 585. You are saying that this guy is stronger than the former strongest man in the world.

When I was in Jr High at 7th grade my max was 150
I was proud cause most kids my age maxed out at 80-90. Some really terrible kid's did the 30-40 range.
I just started working out regularly and I bench 4 sets of 8 reps with 160. I haven't maxed for a few reason's, but mainly because I don't have enough weights. I'm 18 years old and only 5'4. Pretty good I guess. I think I could do about 250...
How about everyone else here? I know people differ from several factors such as natural strength and genetics and arm length, but I'm just curious what you all work out with/max out at on benching...

I believe that Tank can bench 600.When I was 14 I could bench 300lbs. and I weighed 230.Now I'm 19 and I can easily bench 400lbs,I haven't tried anything over 400 yet but I can get 5 reps at 400 and I don't even work out with that kinda weight much.

Ground Control and Ober,
As someone who has weight trained for 15 years, I had never seen anything like it myself - it freaked me ! (The spotter was over him for the last few reps and as far as I could tell, he did not seem to be assisting). I have been around long enough and I would definately be questioning it myself had I not been there and seen it. I wouldn't jeopardise any credibility I may have to BS to impress here. Not my style.
I get pretty impressed by 4 plates on either side and that is very rare to see in itself ! The guy is about 6'3" and probably about 280 solid. If I get the chance, I'll ask what his max is. I would estimate it would have to be close to 680lbs or dare I say higher given the form at 6 plates - and that is big !
