leave the pronounciation to linguists....when someone is punching at you, they don't care what you call it, and you better put up your hands...

the 'ee-' which you refer to in iraq is also incorrect since the vowels in arabic are not diphthongs as they are in english

Cyril is correct, the 'ee' pronounciation of iraq is not how it is pronounced in arabic. However, it is much closer to the correct pronounciation than 'eye-rack'....hehehe.

I agree that when someone is punching you it doesn't matter how you pronounce it.

However, during the 99.9999995 % of the time you spend when someone is NOT punching you, then knowing how to speak correctly is pretty important. A linguistics post-graduate might agree with this, don't you think?
