Yeah. Great idea. I can picture the conversation now.....

"Do you have a list of reputable Ninja Dojos in this town?"

"DO YOU WANT TO END UP IN A FRIGGIN CELL, YOU PISS TAKING DICK?"

Yep. Thats what police stations are for....to provide advice about silly men in black pyjamas who think they can go invisible.....
They use those smoke bombs to go invisible!

It always puzzled me how in those 80s Ninja films, a lot of the time the hero wore a white Ninja outfit?

Anyway, it sounds like every art form has some type of affiliation with a Law Enforcement organisation these days.

                  He wasnt a tortoise surely!

I was always baffeled by that - you have a Pink hippo, a massive bear with very scary eyes that are really close together - and then - a strange thing with a zip for a mouth! Bizzar !

No wonder i turned out the way i did!

                      well, guess what...

Some people practice it seriously (and as it should be)
Check this out for some students of Doron Navon (Israeli) and the first non-Japanese to study under Hatsumi before the Ninjutsu craze of the 80's. (as soon as late 60s)

My teacher is also a 3rd generation student (student of a student of Doron Navon)

The Israeli police force have had some training in Ninjutsu in the mid 80s. (as I'm sure they have had some experience with other arts, but that does not deduct from the system's effectiveness)

I'm not a disciple or a prophet of Ninjutsu and as I've already stated elsewhere on this forum, it's *very* hard to find good tutelage (I consider myself fortunate in this regard), but there are some very sound principles to this art (and enough diversity to make it adaptable to different situations).

As for all the jokes about the movie image of the "ninja" and all the frauds trying to make a quick buck, I can easily share into those, but in comparison I think it would be unfair to muai thai if I judjed it based on the screen image of (say) Van Damme (he's made a few thai movies no??)
The fact that there is no sport side to ninjutsu makes it hard to evaluate the system from other sources (like you can do muai thai), but to restrict yourself to the joke aspect only, just goes to show your ignorance (and maybe your contentment in remaining ignorant) - not directed against anyone specific person)

One more link for the hasty

                      Just my thoughts

You have to see the funny side of studying an art that is portrayed as a group of guys in masks trying to kill each other! Seagal, Van Damme, and even Bruce Lee have been ridiculed for their on-screen antics.

Don't take things so seriously. Its not about ignorance. Its just a bit of banter!

In Japan that would mean they were about to die, white is the color of deatch
Samurai and their lords commited sepuku in whithe clothes

An execusioner would also wear white. as would imperial sword testers (that would cut up the bodies of criminals - to test the swords)

What an intelegent choice of colour - that white would very quickly be red!

What was the Ninja film that actually started off the Ninja craze? When I was young, it was just there! I remember going to the video shop with my dad when I was young, and he got out a Ninja video for me. He also warned me not to copy them!

I remember watching the Japanese version of "Ring" a while back. In the "video" on that film, there is a woman wearing a white hat, which symbolises death, the underworld etc.

                              Creepy, but great film!!

American ninja was one of the first big western ninja films - but there were many many eastern productions before that.

Shaolin vs ninja is one. There are tons more.
