What I meant was that because of the fact that SOME people are violent when drunk you would be more likely to get into a fight, but perhaps I was wrong. I, as I have said am not a bad-tempered drunk and have never got into a REAL fight while under the influence of alchohol. I was just asking because I think that it is an interesting subject: Having to change your tactics because you know your balance and reactions are less than what they would normaly be. Thanks for not berating me.

Whoa! I must have gotten confused and skipped over your other post. If you seen my first post, I in no way condone going out to bars to get drunk and fight. When Lizard said, Clinch. Be nice, I assumed he was questioning why I would clinch in that situation. My drinking in public is low so I can maintain a level head and so I can better handle any unpleasant events that might arise. Though many of us know that if you go into a bar there is always a chance of having to deal with a drunk attitude.

Sorry, I see what you guys are saying now. It's unfortunate when you have to deal with drunk attitudes. I would hope that, with a reasonable amount of drinking in a night, you wouldn't change anything in your fighting style. In a bad situation, hopefully your training is still enough to get you through. Changing your style to try to fit a situation is too much thinking. Over thinking your fight style is going to make you tentative, and slower than alcohol will.

Yes that's a good point. Trying to alter my style will just make it more confusing. After I threw a cushion at someone the following conversation occured: "Ow, man you hurt my eye..." Me:"Sorry I didn't mean to hurt you." Guy:"hahahaha"(falls to the floor laughing). So I understand that it is best to avoid fights. Although I definately would have won.

The law of tyranny:
1. Any power that can be abused will be abused
2. Abuse always expands to fill the limits of resistance to it.
3. If people don't resist the abuses of others, they will have no one to resist the abuses of themselves, and tyranny will prevail.
Welcome to the Socialist States of Amerika . Coming soon Jan 20th 2009!

Although I am angry, I did not show it in my post. It's my ankle, I sprained it around two hours after throwing the cushion. What a night. As I have said, please post but only if you have something worth saying.

Returning to Topic:
I do agree that fighting while drunk at some bar or club is more likely to get you locked up at the county detox center. But, I believe Lizard has brought up a valid topic for discussion.
12 step sarcasm for AA membership aside...
For those of us old enough to have frequented bars, clubs etc., Im sure that we would all agree that we have seen, heard of or even been in our share of drunken fights.
Lizard:
If you are talking strategy, I think you first must assess the situation first. Ask yourself this...
Q: How big is this guy and how many of his friends resemble Bob Sapp?
A: This is your chance to appologize, walk away or turn tail and run.
Q: Are there walls near you, a car maybe? Something that might crack your skull if you fell on it?
A:make sure you position yourself so that u are able to drive your drunken enraged fan into this object. Don't let them use it against you. Be aware that if he rushes you, you're both probably going to end up on the ground. Dont let the side of the curb crack your skull!
Q: Ask yourself how drunk you think you are? Then assume you're way too drunk to really answer the question.
A: Swinging weapons (ie. hooks, roundhouses) could prove detremental to your balance due to your lack of drunken state of mind. You will more than likely over swing and give your opponent a chance to shoot in at you in the event you miss.
Q: What weapons should I use?
A: Since guns and knives in this situation will prolly give you 15 to 20 at San Quentin Correctional. I would suggest front kicks for long range tactics and using them to set up for close quarter attacks. When in range headbutts, elbow and knees aiming for the nose, groin and kneecaps (can anyone say krav maga?) Avoid going to the ground unless absolutely neccessary.
Q: Wait this guy has 100lbs on me, and there are more than one person?
A: Exactly why u should avoid going to the ground.

Don't fight when you're drunk, period. Unless, of course, you're in danger of serious injury or death.
As a general rule, unnecessary fighting isn't a good idea, but I think it's even more important if you're drunk. Your coordination, and more importantly, your judgment, will be impaired. Sooner or later, you will probably end up seriously hurting yourself or someone else.

Lizard,
I’ve been in this pridicament before and learned a few valuable lessons...
ONE — Trying to focus on sophisticated techniques while intoxicated will get you whacked. Instead, use straight, simple and direct movements, e.g. knee & groin kicks, knees & elbows, head butts and jabs (if possible). Rely on instinctive, simple counters & attacks because your judgement will be impaired (if you’ve been drinking as well).
TWO — Intoxicated attackers are prone to tackling or moving forward. Most likely, you’ll end up in a clinch position. While he’s throwing wild punches around your body, use knees, elbows and a head butt if possible. Attack the groin, solar plexus (this will induce vomitting) and the neck. Make it hard for him to breathe. As anyone knows, the more you drink the quicker you tire.
THREE — Flee when the situation presents itself... There’s no need for ego in a drunk fight. Chances are you won't remember much the next day.

a typical scenario on why it's best to avoid bar fights if at all possible.
The "drunk guy", usually the instigator, picks a fight against sometimes less than favorable odds. He then takes of nis opponent but gets jumped from behind by his opponent's friends and gets his ass beat. The bouncers eventually get there and save him, and maybe he has to go the ER. If he does happen to win, maybe he goes to jail. At best he gets thrown out of the bar/club, with his clothes ripped after being roughed up by the bouncers.

Oh... I forgot one more.
FOUR -- It's best to avoid fighting in public places altogether... It's quite embarrasing to say the least. Imagine what everyone else is seeing - Two sluggish neanderthals going at it while everyone is just trying to enjoy themselves... You get my drift.
