  • Anybody here familiar with Sakura?

I'm not trying to start a war or anything with BJJ people, but this Sakura guy is an amazing fighter. I just watched few of his fights. He beat two of the gracies, and is called the gracie hunter. Anybody here familiar with him and if so what are ur thoughts about him?

Sakuraba is awesome, he trains at the Takada dojo in Japan. He defeated 4 Gracies and some other Brazilians and lost twice to Vanderlei Silva. He's a very entertaining fighter to watch, he has some crazy moves.

Silva has only lost a few times. He lost to Tito Ortiz and Victor Belfort.

Yep, that would have been an awesome fight but Vitor broke his hand early during the fight so he spent the rest of the fight just scooting on his butt inviting Sakuraba to grapple. Sakuraba just kicked his legs throughout the entire fight. But, during the beginning of the fight it was actually quite awesome, Vitor was known for having the fastest hands in MMA and he was getting beat by Sakuraba's unorthodox fighting style (that spinning back kick is just precious.) What a shame...

I wonder who'd win if Tito fought Sakuraba.

Even though Sakuraba is my favorite fighter. I think Tito would win because Tito defeated Vanderlei Silva, and Silva defeated Saku twice. Also, Sakuraba fights are fun to watch, but from what I recall, he has never knocked anyone out. If is was a submission wrestling match. Then I would choose Sakuraba.

                        silva got lucky

MMA is very unpredictable. You could also say that Sakuraba

would lose to Vitor Belfort because he defeated Silva, but in the

crazy world of MMA sh*t happens. IMOH I think a 100% Sak

would defeat a 100% Tito. Plus Sak never ducks a fight and is a

risk taker. Tito is a great fighter, but more a bout the money and

picking his opponents. SAK is a true champion no matter if he

loses the rest of his fights, but I hope he comes back.

P.S. Hes supposed to fight in Grand prix 2003
