I used to work in a high tech. firm based in Cambridge and wound up going over to the U.K. about six or seven times a year. Good beer. Cool people. Interesting country. Lousy food. Honestly, I didn't really appreciate the people in the U.K. too much until I moved onto another company and wound up going over to Paris once a month. Great wine. Beautiful country. Great food. People: um, can we talk about something else?

European beer is of a higher quality. I took a trip to Belgium and sampled "Wit Bier" or white beer. Really spritzy, full bodied and not too tart. I also ate the Belgian version of steak with fries (biefstek met frites). They don't hold back in their cooking.

Even other Europeans have weird feelings of the French.
