  • Training Tips

I was wondering if anyone would care to share some of their training ideas? Currently I use the NAVY SEAL workout which includes:

    stretching
either a little yoga or aerobics (which I add to the routine)
push ups 4 or 5 variations (I use 3 of them for a total of 50-100)
crunches 5 or more variations (I use two of them for a total of about 200-250)
pull ups 3 or 4 variations (not many!)
dips 3-5 sets of 5 or more
cardio- either running, swimming or a combo of bother ( I mainly use my treadmill bitnoit faithfully)
then of course I do some bag work heavy bag and timing ball and JKD

Weightlifting ( 3x per week, I go on and off with this as sometimes I feel the push ups andpull ups are enough)

All toghether about a 2-3 hour workout. I just wondered if this sounds like I'm doiong the right thing or not?

    No

    NOT really.

You have got the right idea. But you need to workout your routine.

Weight training - This is the most effective way to gain strength and improve your physic. Weight training to me is very important because of though reasons. Pull-ups are used in weight training. But puss-up's do not compare to weight training.
The push-up is like the bench press. One difference though. You are using extra weight. So you put two and two together and realise that bench pressing is better than push-ups.

Cardiovascular - Running, the treadmill, the spinning bike, the rower, swimming and skipping a personal favourite are all cardio exercise. But so is your fighting. So find a workout timetable to follow with fighting every day and the other cardio workouts properly 3-6 times a week.

Fighting - I train in fighting everyday. I spar 3 times a week. Grapple 2. And train in punching, kicking e.t.c. And grappling arts everyday.

This training really works. My weight training is 6 times a week.
My fighting 7 and cardio 7.

I like it. But you will have to find the workout that is best to you.

P.S. Never say push-ups are better than weight training again.
