I"m a bed wetting girl. It's interesting reading the opinions of everyone that are clearly biased towards MT. The emphasis of TKD is kicking, yet TKD people can't kick? Please. Apparently I don't know how to defend a kick, eventhough I've been getting kicked at for 18 years now. If I haven't figured out how to defend a kick by now, than I am a bedwetting girl.

not a problem, just keep assuming I'm going to come at you with high kicks seriously now, the original post was about who has the hardest kicks. If we're talking multiple kicks, MT is ruled out, if we're talking about just one kick that is hardest (maybe the post should read "which kick is the hardest", I wouldn't necessarily disagree with a MT roundhouse.

Who has the hardest kicks?......... Do variables come into the equation? Ive allways rated TKD as a weak style but ive met some really good powerful kickers from the art.In my opinion: Good form, good practise = Good kickers

Real Korean TKD Black Belts and Americans who have dilegently studied under them will demonstrate incredible kicking ability - I would say that 30% of TKD kicks are snapping kicks that use small contact areas to weak body parts thus have whip force and penetration, 40% of TKD kicks are thrusting kicks that partly employ the hips, but use mostly the glutes to generate thrusting power, the rest of the kicks use hip rotation to clear the kick around the body - crescent kicks, spinning kicks etc.

A good Korean TKD black belt can throw a side kick at about 4 different angles - falling, straight out, upward digging and at chin level. These angles serve the purpose of damaging the body or sneaking under defenses. He will have excellent distance control and an extremely quick and hard kick that he can throw multiple times. He might even faint one kick to set up for another - even though the TKD round kick snaps it can dislocate a jaw, but doesn't have the same raw smashing power of the thai kick.

Since most TKD schools are McDojangs with non-serious students it makes sense to crack jokes about TKD, but if you've seen the good ones you know they are for real.

If you compare the average TKD student to the average Muay Thai practicioner, I'd give it to Muay Thai. But, there are probably a few good TKD practicioners who can kick with excellent power.

years ago I saw thai MT matches were one of the fighter would have his arms more in a kyokushin karate style and make his high kicks in a snap style, these fighters always won
but these are the lighter weight devisions

I see ghost using the wrong arguents by saying the MT guy would win alther a vew low kicks, but that's not what the poll/thread is about, it's about what kick is hardest
And almost no-one has given any real arguments on why they think te thaistyle kick is harder

Let me put it this way a wrestling style piledriver would be about the most devistating throw around but no-one would ever win a fight with it, does that make the throw less devistating, no it doesn't

snapkicks work best against targets that can't absorb the impulspower like the head
Thaistyle works besst at those targets that can absorb impuls power like the legs

to have a discussion you need arguments not opinions

Thai style kick is like swinging an axe it moves in a very round circular motion. TKD style kicks are more like ...well i dont know what can someone else fill that bit in?

Oh yes i agree that the TKD head kick is useful, ill give you that one, more chance of landing it because of the angle it comes in at. Still not as powerful though, if i had an open shot for the head i would use the thai kick, %99.9 guaranteed instant knock out. If i wad trying my luck i would go with the TKD style head kick.

World Champiionship Kyokushin Karate: matches that take less than 20 sec because of snapheadkick knockout

Although the larger circel of MT style kick results un a higher speed, the kick uses mainly slow muscles, whereas the snapkick uses the fast muscles

And to my knowledge ( you asked for it ) it is E= ½M V²
so speed is more important for the impact because it is squared
