What's the difference between Muay Thai and Shooto?

**** you Ghost! Nick, Shooto, or Shooting or Shoot fighting, is a mixed martial art that combines , Muay Thai, Grappling, Throws, Submissions, and so on. Its essentially a combination of everything. As far as i have found, its ( dare i say) one of the most complete systems out there. Shooto itself is not Muay Thai or a form of Muay Thai. Here is the best way for me to explain Shooto, picture combining the best techniques from Muay Thai, Western boxing, wrestling, grappling, BJJ, Judo, and so on, there you have Shooto. The art itself is really not that old at all, and was basically the Japanese answer to BJJ. In my opinion its one of the best mixed martial arts out there.
Hey Ghost, actually i agree with you that Muay Thai rocks, however I wouldnt limit yourself to Muay Thai. What would you do if i set you up with a nice jab, cross, right kick, and as you try to shin block my kick, i shoot in and take you to the ground, then i proceed to mount you and pound your face in, after that i would then move to side body, take your arm and can you say CHICKEN WING!!!!!! LOL,
Duh, BJJ specializes on groundwork. Anyone can specialize and become better at one thing than the guy who studies everything at once (for the same amount of time and energy).

As i see you shooting id retract my left leg shin block and shoot it backwards whilst jamming my forearms on shoulders, then id knee you in the head a couple of times and the "LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR"
Please dont think you would get me on a combo like jab cross right kick and im not going to see you shoot.
If you come a tme with such a simple combo i would destroy you before you even got to shoot.
LOL just having a little fun Ghost! Obviously not going to go into such great detail about what would work or not or what i would do or not. Just a little verbal Judo for fun. I just simply disagree that Shooto sucks compared to Muay Thai. Also Raging bull, BJJ traditionally is way more limited than Shooto. Now im speaking traditional Bjj like the Gracie style of teaching. For one thing Gracie JJ doesnt teach any strikes or kicks of any kind, therefore being limiting. Also once you get on the ground with a BJJ fighter, they limit themselves again to only working submissions from the waist up. They never learn any leg locks or lower body submissions. Very limiting if you ask me. I also completely disagree that just training on the ground more would make you any better than someone who specializes in the whole enchilada. Its all about combos, hence the Shooto philosophy, Punch, Kick, Throw, Submit!!! But of course not necessarily in that order. Why take someone to the ground when they are fresh? Why not take some of that energy away with some devastating blows first, then slam thier asses hard on the ground and then they are a piece of meat for you? Just some thought
