Hi Guys,
I'm sitting in Amsterdam airport writting this to you from an internet cafe.
I'm sorry to say, but my lads did not come home from Russia with a title, but they did me proud.
It was the first time any of my fighters have fought and for them to enter a cage in Russia, I'm pleased they are part of my team.
Simon Barnett was to fight a superbout, but due to an injury to a fighter in the heavyweight catagory, Simon stepped in to fight in the 8 man tournament instead.
Thier country was cold and wet, but the show was a warm welcome and exciting. I'd like to thank all at the Mixed Fight Federation for allowing my fighters to compete.
RESULTS:
Carl Simpson Vs Vagam Bodjukyan (Russia) 8 man tourny.
Carl fought well attacking first and then defending with a great reversal from the mount. Unfortunetly Carl allowed Vagam to regain the mount and was cought on an armbar.
Simon Barnett Vs Oleg Tsigolnik (Russia) 8 man tourny.
Simon started off with a strong thigh kick and followed with strikes. Oleg immediately took Simon to floor and started to pound. Oleg left an arm out while striking and Simon took full advantage of this and applied an armbar. Oleg then rained powerfull punches to Simons face making him submit the fight.
Colin Sexton Vs Larry Parker (USA) 8 man tourny.
This fight was the shortest of the night. As the bell sounded Larry Parker, PRIDE 7 fighter, went for the double leg and Colin sprawled back hitting Larry with a clean strike to his temple. Knockout in 10 seconds.
Colin Sexton Vs Pedro Cezar (Brazil)8 man tourny.
Pedro Cezar is twice Brazilian Vale Tudo Champion and fought this fight clever by closing in on Colin and not allowing him to strike. After a well fought and hard 9 minutes, Colin tired and retired from the fight. (Pedro was unable to compete in the final due to eye injury sustained from Colins strikes).
Well done guys - You did me proud.
