You end up feeling sore in the most peculiar of places. My chin has been sore from preventing a choke from getting anywhere need my neck. My inside leg always bruises from people attempting to pass my guard by pushing their elbow down on it. It bloody kills. I wish they could do it on the other leg instead!!!

Puahahaha... That's one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time.

I occasionally get rashes on my legs if my opponent happened to be wearing jeans and he was trying to pass my guard.

isnt it funny though that those aches and pains actually feel good in some sort of way if you know you are progressing
oh and those pains are called conditioning, they shouldnt continue if you have been at something for over 3 or 4 months

I have bruises all over my arm. The bad part is that my gf and friends kept asking me if I was getting beat up I hope I won't bruise as easily a few months down the road.

if u get squeezed, choked or hit 2 or 3 times a week, after a while your body conditions itself to the knocks and you almost become immune to them.
you will still bruise and hurt but nowhere as severely.

                  stretch/warmup/stretch/drill... etc

Most important thing for myself seems to be consistant pre-train hip and leg stretching, warmup and cooldown...

                  Usually goes something like this,

-stretch my whole body thru some yoga movements,
                  -standing and/or ground warmups,
-stretch out as needed after warmup,
-2 person drilling, (guard / pass; xsides top/bottom ; etc...)
                  -specific technique (related to drill)
                  -live rolling,
                  -COOLDOWN!
                  -stretch more!

The warmup and cooldown are the BEST habits to get into. Also if your active in other ways like jogging or cycling, you will work out kinks faster.

Just my .02c. Have fun doing bjj.

                      "Tip of the Day"

Hey man, try not to let people choke you. JK--LOL!

I think we all have days like that. Just wait until one guy brings in ringworm, and you and the rest of the guys spent 2 months passing it around and re-giving it to each other over and over.

Not that that ever happened to me or all the other guys in the school---------------------------Twice.
