  • Problems with TKD

    Hey all,

I seem to have problems not defending my art
Please understand that i do not want opions i want truthfull facts for this thread.

A lot of people have problems with TKD.... why does TKD "suck" and is a "waste of time" I am not talking about Mcdojo's either. Taekwon-do as it is ment. Ranging from olypic Taekwon-do to tournement to street fights. What is the problem with the art or sport.

And i have a challage also tell me how to improve this kick

Don't jump, swing the leg with your waist and follow with your leg, put all your weight into it.

In systema they teach you how to do leg take downs on any kick and if u stay where u r they will come in on that

If you Jump i can step to the side and take you down even easier, the choice is yours. Either way, you're going to the ground.

since that was most probably a jump spin hook or heel kick there is no Thai equivalent.

There was no problem from the kick, But in real life what happened before the kick would be more important than the execution of the kick.

And sidestepping that kick would most likely get you flattened because I'd bet you'd step the wrong way.

Defense of that kick is to step into the kick very quickly to close to trapping range.

I think that eXcessiveForce has alot better answer than Bjjexpertise@be ..... he accutly looked at the way the person turned.... if that wasa a round house kick u certainly won't step into it

I would just back out of the way and take him down while he is landing. Also, no one is super-super-impossibly fast. Even a quick guy can be taken down. If you can kick fast, why can't the other guy move just as fast?

                Trapping would also work.

And someone needs to invest in a ****ing spellchecker...

Jump kicks are fun. They are a lot like wrist locks. They work well either at the beginning or at the end of a dispute.

If the average Joe attempts a jump kick wide open like that against another average joe with any kind of fighting experience Joe may just be in for a world of hurt.

I've sparred extensively with someone who's very athletic and adept at jumping/spinning kicks, especially to the head.

I've taken a shot, then I proceeded to put his ass into the wall, or the floor, or simply got inside his kicking range with his back to me and jacked him face first into the nearest obstacle.

Sure, you can pull off spinning and jumping maneuvers, if you hit you hit big, if you miss (and odds are against a clean hit) you're going to pay.

Sorry to clutter your factual chain with opinion....

I wouldn't try to back out and take him while he's landing. If you back out you're creating distance. The kick is about to end.( i have no idea if that's a round house, or a spin kick so i'll say it's a round house.) And you begin the take down by the time you get there, he'd have tim to prepare for it. Either run straight in or just hop to the side and then go for it.

And in answer to your statement acitic. I was not sure if it was an round house or a spin kick because it could've been both, so i took it as a round house. And if i were to side step first i could get you when the kick lost its power.

                        ...

Dodging kicks really isn't as hard as you're all making it out to be. There are some great kickers in my Goju ryu class and I don't have much trouble snapping back out of high kicks or side stepping jump kicks.

                        Later...

I would like to answer the Pic question from the point of view of a Thai Boxer.

The kick in the pic is hopelessly flawed.

The main prblem is what happens if it is blocked.

                            All vital areas are exposed.

I'll repeat that incase you missed it.

                            All vital areas are exposed.

The throat, chin, solar plexus, groin etc.

Need i go on. I could but i wont just yet because i dont think it is necessary.

Here is a Thai kick, Notice how , although the the kick is blocked, the kicker has left themselves well defended, only the groin is exposed, solar plexus, chin and throat are not attackable.
