Dependes on the situation. If I feel I NEED a weapon, then chances are this is situation that may lead to lethal force. In that case I'll take a firearm. In a less than ideal situation(though, if you think about it, anytime you have to answer this question is an less than ideal situation), a knife or stick of some sort would have to suffice.

When you think about it gun is the best in any situation, because unless you enjoy killing people if someone comes at you with any weapon that can cause severe injury you can just point it at them and there's a 99 percent chance they'll run away. Imagine training with a gun for a few years like people train with knives and staffs. There's obviously nothing more accurate and fast as a gun, it's also small, has many bullets compared to keeping 10 throwing knives, it can be carried legally, and it can also be used to club someone. Oh and I'd probably carry 2 guns, one for each hand. I think the art behind a gun is basically dodging and firing, like diving and firing in midair that sort of thing. If you can find someone who can fight agains't a gun then they're demons because how many people can actually dodge bullets or block bullets with a cane or something.

And my favorite ninja turtle used a staff.
I thought I was the only one who liked Donatelo! All of my friends laugh at me, they used to like leonardo and michalangelo. But Donatelo used his brain, he could invent useful stuff for the other turtles to use.

My favoriate weapon is the nuncucks. Although I also use the staff and the knife.
I also like guns, I have many of them, but I do not carry them. I will eventually get my permit to carry, but even then I would only pull it if it was a life or death situation.
One thing you have to think about when carrying a firearm....the legal implications it can put on you .
You cannot, I REPEAT, CANNOT, just point a gun at someone because you feel a bit threatened. There are many laws on guns and to name a few:
Brandishing a weapon
Assult/Battery
Intent to cause bodily harm
Discharging a weapon within city limits
Murder
The list goes on and on and on. The only time a person should pull a gun is when they intend to use it and you have to kill or be killed.
If Billy bob comes up and pushes you and you pull your gun, he is not the one that is going to go to jail. You are. Brandishing a weapon will get you at least fined if not jail time. They can also revoke your carry permit.
If someone is coming at you with a knife and you pull the gun, then you will probably be ok when you explain to the cops what happened.
Then there is the whole thing where if you injure them they may be able to come back and sue you. It sucks, but sometimes its true.
Sad..but sometimes it is better to beat someone up with a stick and injure them to where they can recover. That way they cannot sue you. That puts you in a situation where the cops know it was self defense and not excessive force. It also kills any lawsuit they would be able to bring against you.
So in conclusion, before you think about owning a gun, or before you pull one, think about what it could do to you, and your freedom.
Take care,
Sean

[Response] I strongly agree. This was repeatedly pounded into our heads when I was in training for the City of Miami Police Department back in the mid-70's. "If your gun comes out of it's holster be commited to shooting it. And when you shoot always aim for the torso/chest area." (Shoot to kill)

[Response] You might beat the rap, but you won't beat the ride.

[Response] Oh yes they can!! You just comitted aggravated battery. I've been told that the only defense that really works is to repeatedly stick to this arguement "I feared for my life." In any case - It's better to be judged by twelve than be carried by six
