  • Saw a fight today....

With the recent posts about streetfights and who is prepared, etc. I'd like to relay an experience I witnessed today picking my sister up from a high school.
(now as a disclaimer I have to say that high school students are not the epitome of "streetfighting potential" haha, but no offense to the HS guys on here )
But anyway, the initial fight started out with the two guys walking around each other, and getting close. They esculated into a shoving match, and one kid backed off as the other kids buddy came at him as well. The third party didn't do anything, and as the pushing match between the two guys continued, one of them threw a pathetic looking punch, and the guy who had the friend tried to grab the other around the back in a pathetic grapple attempt The other kid tried to grab his leg from behind, and they hopped around like two mating dung beatles for a few seconds. I drove up to them, and they quit and dispersed.

So even though this was truly pathetic, I did want to say that not all streetfights are horrible wars that you must be an NHB champion to survive...a lot of them are pathetic little squirmishes that 6 months of BJJ can easily deal with. Or 6 months of boxing for that matter. A lot of people it seems...do NOT know how to fight.

It depends a lot on where you live.

Some days ago in my town two guys were debating over a past girlfriend of both. One guy left for good and the other went to a bar. Suddenly the other guy jumped the other armed with a heavy hammer, hitting him on shoulder and leg.

Result: one guy with one broken knee and clavicle.

    Streetfights are EVER ugly affairs.

Bjj has very good hammer defense techniques.

Underdog, no doubt streetfights can be ugly! I have known about people chasing after others with an axe, etc.

You're definately right in that it depends on where you live, but I'm sure even where you live you have "mice" pretending to be "tigers"

Not everyone who acts tough can back it up is all I'm saying
Some can...and do...that's why streetfighting is a dangerous gamble, in my opinion.

          grrr imma tiger

There was a fight at my school today. My friend and some other guy. They met in a park, they threw sissy punches at each other that didnt even hurt each other, Then my friend POWERBOMBED the guy and ended it when they were in a clinch. That was the funniest fight in the world. One adult even came up and said "My four year old daughters can fight better than you!"'

LOL i found this funny as hell

            Yeah Ryu, You're right.

You will not know if someone is a bluff until you fight it.

So my personal point is to stay the hell away from streetfights, even if this is viewed as cowardy: I'm just too old to worry about reputation.

But if I have no escape, in a streetfight I NEVER, ever brawl without a weapon or some sort of backup.

I may run for escape now, but I'll caught them later...

            Lol!

I know I could beat up most kids at school using a simple double leg.

Patterson, doesn't your HS have wrestlers?

YeLLa, he POWERBOMBED him?? Like in WWF? Is he still alive? LOL

Underdog, I completely agree. I carry a folding knife with me usually, but have NEVER had to use it (hope to God I never do)

You mentioned that you pulled a knife on a guy a little while ago and cut at his sleeve. (the one you spit at)
What are your experiences with knives? I would think pulling it out when the other guy appears unarmed would be death if you get caught by police...but what are people's reactions usually that you have noticed?

I also try to steer clear of the hardcore stuff...
It's easy to think your judo or bjj can handle the street and get shot in the face, or stabbed when you clinch someone...

It was on the grass, so the kid just got lots and lots of bumps on his face. That fight was pretty funny and Im glad no one got hurt. I wasnt there in person cause I didnt think anything would happpen and I also think its stupid when THE WHOLE school decides to watch, how gay is that? Besides, I had homework to do!

I saw a kid at my school who was a Black Belt at the local Mcdojo AKA Tae Kwon Do Plus. The TKD kid got the Piss knocked out of him.He threw a spinning back kick and didnt even come close to contact. Then the other kid jumped on him and kicked the crap out of him.He is in Chapter 37 now.Kids at my school think that Boxing is the ONLY way to fight. They hold their fist up to each others chin to see who has the longest arms(Thats how they detirmin the Pecking order in good old Texas eh!)

Best fight I ever saw was in a strip club near the LA airport.
We were in a corner and the room was kind of L shaped and we were on one side where the stage where the stippers were, was in the middle. There was this one hippie dude that was sitting right at the right angle corner and had his chair back from the stage real far and the waitress had a real hard time trying to get around the corner and kept asking the dude to move his chair in. Keep in mind this was a long time ago, when LA strip clubs could sell alcohol, now they don't. So, this hippie dude was pretty drunk and wasn't listening to the waitress and a little later, the bouncer came back to ask the guy politely move his chair a little closer. After arguing for a few minutes, I hear the hippie dude yell "So, what are you going to do about it?"
The bouncer who was an older dude, and had PopEye Forearms and had a nose like a boxer, cocks his whole arm back and it seemed like slow motion because the guy just stood there and got nailed in the face. I am surprised the punch didn't KO the dude, but maybe it was the alcohol that kept his pickeled brain conscious. Anyway they are wrestling for a short while when all of a sudden, something falls to the ground...................

                      GUN!

We all start to duck between and under the tables. One of my friends slowly creeps over to see it it's real and the waitress yells for everyone to stay in their seats. Well, they are grappling and roll around the corner and well, the show/strippers are still going, so we watch the show.
Funny, about 3-5 minutes later, the two guys come back, rolling and wrestling around the corner to our side. They do this for about 2 more minutes and roll back around the corner and we don't see the guy anymore. The bouncer comes back for his gun and puts it back in his shoulder holster and that was the best fight I ever saw.
OK, you had to be there.
Now, how many good fights have you dudes seen in a strip club?
                      HA!

Yep...you should always walk away from ANY kind of trouble...
Some punks may try name calling "youre such a pu**Y " etc.. So what?? people who pick fights in the street are usually ALL TALK...I dont spend countless hours training just to prove I'm not a coward to some jerk..

If there is no way out....then....hope and pray your training pays off!

Ok Sweep I have a better or at least more entertaining strip club story. I had a few friends down for rose festival a few years ago and after a little bit of drinking we saw this titty bar in downtown Portland so we go in there. Mind you none of my friends had been to a bar with full nudity that serves hard alcohol on top of it. So we are enjoying the show when this yuppie type guy goes up to the stage and throws some change on it. Then says to the stripper "Here's a quarter for ya baby" with that said she kicked him in the head with her great big stripper heals and blood pours everywhere. The guy starts yelling "Can you say lawsuit?" My boys were in total shock asking if that happened much at strip clubs. They escorted the guy out and the show continued.

Yes there is a wrestling team, but its not like the whole school is made up out of wrestlers that have strong sprawls. Even of the wrestlers most are smaller than me and I think I could take them down, hell at my weight I could still take down the jv wrestlers. Its not like they are good.
