Hi everyone, I have a question about takedowns. I am 6'2" 185lbs and I usually grapple with shorter people and they always shoot in on me because, frankly, my shoot and sprawl sucks horribly . I usually pull guard and constantly work for a triangle or armbar from bottom. My question is, Do any of you know any good takedown techniques, that you have found from practice, to be useful against shorter opponents? Just once I'd like to get mount or side-mount. The closest I can get is the old schoolyard favorite, "Grab the shoulders and trip them with your leg, falling into the (scarf-hold) position." It's fun but I want to have some surprises for my friends next time around. Thank you kindly.

Use the Counters.
Try an Uchi-Mata aginst The Singel Leg.
it's simalar To a hip Throw Except Yor Leg
goes Between His Legs as u spin your hip.
Or a good old Fasion Wizzer When he shoots
U over Ho the closer arm & pull side way's as U drop to your knees,,, a good folow up is a pancake.
While U have the over hook & are on Your knees pull to the
side & send your other are around the Front almost like a Clothse Line.
Againts a Doulbe TrySumi-Gaeshi,,, The Head come's Low With a penatration step U counter By over & Under hooking the
Arms fall into a ball & push Your hips to the Sky.
(also know as a Monkey Flip)
U should also Work on Your Sprawl With Your Size.
U should Be Driving their heads to the Floor.
Hope this helps it's hard to tranlate this Stuff in Wrighting.

Thank you very much! I'll print this out and try to find someone to practice on. I really should work on my sprawl too, but I'm not quick enough. I dunno what my problem is, I guess knowing that you have a problem is the first step in solving it huh? Thank you again for the great advice!

at 6' 2", you can use your height to set up a lot of guillitines when a guy shoots in.
Also use your hands since they will have a longer reach, like a boxer, you can use your hands to distract the guy and try some moves of your own.
Just keep practicing your stand up, it'll get better.
