  • UFC or Pride

I have seen some UFC fights,as we all know the first ones were the best.

I keep hearing Pride is much better and slowly becoming more popular then UFC .

I have never seen PRIDE so would like to know what you guys think.

i.m.o they are both great, pride looks a little more professional and the fighters look to be of slightly higher caliber.
i hate the ropes in pride though(too many stoppages).
but what really pisses me off about both of them is the stupid rounds and time limits(not a realistic fight if you have time to compose and rest). just my 2 cents

You don't reaaly stop the action because of the ropes. You get pulled back to the center in the same postion you were in and start. It's a hell of a lot better than pushing someone up to a fence and driving a million elbows into them.

I think there are few fighters in UFC that could compete well in Pride. I mean, count who is the best in the UFC and than have them face up to the best in Pride. Do you really think the UFC would come out on top?

            Me. Doubtful.

I think that the UFC and PRIDE are both good organizations with good fighters in each one. I notice a few fighters who split time between the 2. I give them both an equal rating but I think UFC has done a better job at getting the sport out to the public.

I think Pride is a million times better for several reasons. First, the fighters are much better in my opinion. Mirko Cro Cop and Hoost can totally dominate UFC. Second, its a lot more professional in the way its presented. They often have good announcers and treat it much like a respectable fight(much like boxing) rather than loud and obnoxious in the UFC(much like professional wrestling). Third, Pride has a much wider range of differant types of fighters(kickers, punchers, wrestlers, grapplers etc). Hehe, not to mention I am big fans of the big strikers in Pride. It seems that the strikers in UFC are very scarce and lower in calibur to their Pride counterparts. Just my humble crappy fan-boy opinion.

I asked my friend if he likes to watch PRIDE (I ment fighting championships) and he said he wasn't gay, he has satellite television.

                    Mr. Heel Hook-

Are you saying your BJJ academy doesn't bring in a section of chainlink fence to practice against?!

(on a side note, a place I used to train at had a real ring, it was actually quite awesome to get in there).

What faction of BJJ do you train under, Dempsey? Just curious, Amigo.

I was joking about the fence btw, maybe it wasn't obvious.

I am a Pedro Sauer guy. The instructor who I train under is a Pedro Purple Belt (who is ready to test to brown), and also a personal friend of Pedro. His main acadamy is about 3 hours away from me. My instructor is also one of my good friends, known him for like 15 years.

Pedro is a Rickson 5th degree black belt, Pedro and Rickson grew up in Rio together and are great friends. The "brothers" all think of Pedro as one of the brothers and even call him so, and he's also one of the only people to ever recieve an official "certificate of technicality" directly from Helio.

I am a dyed in the wool Gracie student, I am not interested in anything else. Rickson taught Pedro, who taught my instructor, who teaches me.

I think they're both good, but yeah the ropes kinda suck, the cage style setup the octagon has is pretty badass. As far as the fighters go, ...they're all good a lot of the guys from ufc have fought in pride and vice versa

Funny how I feel the same way...

Oh, I knew about the fence being a joke. I asked who you trained under because you answer a lot of things the way I would. I was just curious, amigo.
