Would Bruce Lee win UFC fights had he been still alive and willing to compete?
I think BL would have *maybe* done okay in the early UFC's - if he kept out of grappling range against a striker OR he didn't fight a grappler. Nowadays he'd be defeated easily even in his own weight class.
a guy that fast and skinny as bruce lee... in a real fight i think you wouldnt be able to touch him . you would get a bleeding nose before you think you should punch. the force of a punch is hide in the technique and in speed . speedy bare hands are deadly. also has anyone of you studied wing chun? im studying wing chun for about a year. before that i studied thai box (with some grappling included) and before that taekwondo . well i havent seen an art as brutal as wing chun. these guys hit you in the eyes, on the neck and on your balls. they do all that painfull stuff . so my guess in a real fight he could beat lots of guys bigger than him! BUT in a vale tudo competition like ufc, i guess he could get his ass kicked 50% . although if he wanted he could become the best in his class cause of his commitment to martial arts! thats just my opinion. (sorry for my bad english)
Anyone who thinks Bruce Lee would be unsuccessful in the UFC's is completely ignorant. First of all Bruce Lee would have been a much better fighter than he was ever before. His grappling skills would of been godly. His grappling instructor was the same one that teaches me. And that Mean Gene of course. There is not a better grappling instructor in the world. Who else would Bruce Lee go to for instruction in grappling? I don't think the question is how Bruce Lee would do standing up against people. The obvious is on the ground. And to tell people that do not know... Bruce Lee would of dominated in both. In addition to this, Bruce would be in a weight class. And even Bruce can loose on a bad day. I am a strong believer in "shit happens".
My understanding is that powerlifter Craig Rychak bench presses 900 lbs.
That is the current record.
I know leg pressing 900 is nothing, as I can leg-press 900 about 50 reps myself.
Also, some giant Canadian bodybuilder, whose name I do not now recall, can
military press close to 600. I am not comment on what sort of "vitamin S"
is necessary to take to get this strong-- I am just stating the fact.
Of course, the two-second fight is an ideal. But Bruce himself took out several men in challeges with one punch or kick each. Bruce devastated the karate sensei in 11 seconds.
Note: if you can blow out a guy's ACL with a Thai kick or rip up his shoulder with a palm strike, he will be disabled. I know because I know people who know. I have several friends who have choked guys out in a few seconds after slipping the lead hook.

You watch Bruce Lee movies too often I can tell.Tell me exactly how Bruce devastated any sensei of any art in 11 seconds when he never sparred to begin with.
No offense, but to believe that it is possible to take out several men with only one punch or kick is plain stupid,it's physically impossible.

I agree you can take out a guy's ACL with a Thai kick or even rip up his shoulder but I don't believe you can do that with a palm strike. In my opinion palm strikes are for karate, kung fu and tkd guys who are all show.I don't believe palm strikes work, a finger jab to throat, yes, but a palm strike get serious.
A man that fast and powerful wouldn't let any one that close to grapple with him. I personaly think he would do well, but only because of his speed and power.
UFC is a joke...iit is NOT REALLY "Ultimate". They have set RULES.
Oh really!!!!!!!!!! Easy to say, coming from someone who has never actually fought in UFC himself. You'd get your ass kicked.
All tournaments have rules but UFC has the least amount of rules next to Pride I believe, which make them as realistic as you can get in any fighting competition.Next best thing to a real fight.
When it comes to competitions you can't get any closer to a real fight then UFC,Pride, and Sabaki Challenge.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
Robert E. Howard
The answer to this lies in the opening combat scene of "Enter the Dragon"
which contains all the elements of mixed martial arts combat, this was the first movie Bruce had any real input on. Nuff said.

I will say this about it being physicaly impossible to take a man out with one punch... It's done all the time in fights. You see upsets all the time where the fighter loosing stands up and scores a haymaker hitting the stronger fighter dead in the chin and knocking him out. Now if you are talking about Bruce Lee fighting several men at one time he could easily take out 5 men "in the old days". Now days everyone on the streets knows a little something. If he was to go up against 5 people now chances are he would be fighting 3 grapplers that would shoot in on his legs while the other 2 prolly being some martial artists or boxers would pound his ass.
1V1 there are very few people alive today that stand a chance against him. There are a few Kenpo artists out there that are as fast as Bruce was with his hands but Bruce was exqually as fast with his feet.
You guys are arguing about UFC and this and that it's not worth it. But I did agree with mui about his comment on the UFC's. I would like to see someone thats talkin bad about the UFC's and how unrealistic it is with the rules. Yes there are rules but it's basicly no holds fighting without the girly biting, fish hooking and kicking people while they are down. You can throw any kind of punch kick elbow knee standing up and do it all on the ground as long as you are grappling.
all hail bruce almighty (just kidding) read this post carefully!
I think Bruce would have been competitive in his weight class if he would have lived long enough to get his grappling skills up to par.. I think If bjj would have been around back then he would have probally studied it just because of its reputation. As for winning UFC I guess its a strong possibility because if he decided to compete he would gear his training in that direction. If he was to compete in a modern UFC with the skills and abilities he had I think him winning is doubtful but possible. As for his speed anyone can punch in fractions of a second. It just doesnt take that long to fully extend your arm. and as for strength that was rated in relation to his body weight. He wasnt really that strong! If he would have weighed 350-400 lbs and had the same strenght to weight ratio he would have been able to throw around cars that would have TRUELY been superhuman and he wouldnt have had any problem winning UFC but he was only 145 at his heaviest.
Gym arranged fights now and then, but that's about it so I am a humble recreational amateur.
The rest of my fight diet consists of regular sparring with guys of different levels and different sizes in round robin format. In an hours training I can get in about 6 good rounds against the fresh fighters, I try to push it now and then but get seriously gassed.
I do allright, but have been humbled just as many times because there's allways someone better.

These are the words of a true martial artist. If you were here I would salute you or shake your hand. I love sparring against multiple styles it's amazing what you can learn. Every fighter/martial artist even if they are all from on style have there own style. I use to do round robbins in whats called gorilla training at the JuJitsu school I first started at and it was amazing the shape you would get in to.
