For some reason right now I can see Karen sitting in her little glass room wearing her surgical gloves and face mask. Clinging tight to her can of Lysol at all times just in case one of those bad germs might sneak into the clean room.
You can get athletes foot from the gym or a spa. All that hot air and steam, just like a garden.
Critters too.
I would rather be extra careful than be sorry....your Mom didn't tell you all those things for nothing.
man that is some sick ish.. i read an article on it right now.. i could barely read the article without thinking about having it. i mean i dont practice any MA at the moment i was considering BJJ but thats the only thing thats going to be on my mind once im in the class... im going to as the instructor " so does anyone happen to have pinworm ?" and imma carry lysol and spray my anus with it after practice !! ha.. sick thoughts running through my mind !!!
There are so many things wrong with someone cramming fingers into their own ass then training/eating that pinworm is way down the list here. Seriously, how could you NOT notice someone giving themselves a three knuckle deep finger job before class?
We use bleach to clean the mats, I get light headed from the damn fumes every time we have to do it. And everyone please, wash your hands and uniforms before training.
I used to get some crazy athletes feet from the carpet at the dojo I practiced at. I never had it before or after I was a part of that school. It was bad! You would think that the instructors would steam and disinfect the carpets more often. Even once a month IMO, would be strectching it. Mats seem like they'd be a little easier to clean. Perhaps a good quality to look for when searching around for schools.
To clean mats you need to mop them after everywork out so they have time to air dry for the next day. Now you cant just use any ole cleaner(pinesol or lysol) because the mats will absorb the chemicals of those cleaners and may cause another form of irritation to come up everytime someone sweats on it. You need to use a water based 100-150 parts per million clorine solution, or a 200-250 parts per million quat solution. After it kills the germs, whats left of it will stay in the mat and also help germs get killed while sweat moistens the mats on a later work out. Constant vacuuming will also help keep the mats clean from dirt particles.
As for the guys licking their fudge packing fingers, Id suggest many years of counceling.
It only becomes a problem when yall start scrathing eachothers assholes, after a workout, Ive heard of team work but man we dont need to be that close.
