He's said how the martial arts are full of politics and infighting, but I never really thought about it as our gym does everything from Aikido, to Muay Thai, to grapling, to escrima etc, on a regular basis; there's no division. But I've been reading through this sight, and it seems like almost every thread has somebody being defencive and rude. I think I wrote the most polite comment ever seen to the internet on one of them pointing out how the philosophy behind martial arts would dictate some more respect, but I was pretty much laughed at and told "wtf". PLEASE tell me the community is better than this, anyone?
i hate to burst your bubble...this isnt the best place for a "little slip of a girl" but on the other hand this isnt a cross section of martial artists, its more like some martial artists and some net ninjas. people are not always friendly to each other on the net in general, please dont assume what you see in this forum is an actual representation of true martial artists.

Aikido for 6 years, but also I have 6 years of wrestling which contributes nicely. Also Shaolin Kung Fu mixed with Chin Na's.

                  How many styles

                  Hmmm ,let's see:
Shotokan Karate ( but the teacher was an asshole, so I quit.)
Muay Thai ( enough to get 4 KO)
Judo( unofficially, with a blackbelt friend of mine)
Ju Jitsu (still partakes in open competitions)
Aikido( regularly practices till today, main style.)

                    Krav Maga ****
                    Muay Thai ****
BJJ w/ some Judo ** (I like Judo better)
Tang Soo Do * (My first MA and a complete waste off time.)

When I get back into training I will stay w/ KM and Judo forever.

And you felt compelled to let everyone know that?

I did two years of judo long ago (forgot everything)
Now I started training kickboxing (3 times a week) and MMA (1 time a week).

Before I started kickboxing I selfstudied some krav maga and can instinctively defend to a lot of holds/chokes.

TKD(fun but i did not feel that I was getting taught self-defense)
                            Muay Thai(which I just started)
Boxing(offered as part of the stand up program.)
