Hi there. I think that 16 oz gloves would be the better glove to train and spar. Obviously because they are heavier. If you fight, it's best to do light training in a lighter glove; closer to the size that you would fight in and closer to fight time - i.e: about a 1-2 weeks before the fight. The heavier glove will help in getting your arms use to fatigue and build speed and endurance. If you can hit hard and fast and keep your hands up with the 16 oz glove then when it comes to fight time and you use a lighter glove you will have no problem. Most boxing gyms and MA schools, that I know of, usually require that you use a 16 oz glove.
