  • Reality fights!

We had the idea to organize fights between people with long experiences in martial arts and combat but no real experience in street fights, and just people who only regularly had fights in the street but never practiced martial arts. the rules like the UFC, the fights will be held on cement floor with no ring. just bandage to the hands or small gloves.
Who do you think is the group who will win most fights?
Would you be interested to be in this kind of fights?
This will be a project ofr areality TV show!
    Please give your opinions!

Your reality TV show would fail, because its entering a crowded & well developed market. The days of watching heavy, untrained guys flail at average martial artists are over, like the days of the old UFCs.

Pride, UFC, IFC & K-1 dominate the cage fight scene, K-1 being more for stand up fighting. They bring the top fighters REGARDLESS of style - olympic judo, wrestling, boxing, streetfighting, taekwondo, kung-fu, whatever.

Anyone who wanted to fight, regardless of style, could enter the above. If they are good , they make alot of money. There is no lack of fighters entering professional NHB type matches, most whom are trained in one style or another.

Up and coming fighters enter local NHB fight circuits and build their way up.

Its been done before. Non-Martial art tough guys enter - guys like Tank Abbot, Paul Varelans and Kimo (before his formal MA training) fought so-so martial artists and did well until the quality of participants increased.

    NO FENCE?
The fence serves 2 purposes: Keep the fight going, prevent other people from jumping in.

The canvas in the cage is hard enough that when wrestlers slam other fighters into it, it breaks shoulders and causes KOs.

Ex: Frank Shamrock scored a huge takedown on a Russian fighter in the Extreme Fighting Championship and planted him head first into the canvas. The guy was out cold for quite a while; floor wasn't made of pillows.

If streetfighting/pitfighting were the most successfull style, those fighters would be talented enough to beat guys like Ken Shamrock, Vanderlei Silva, Matt Hughes, Vovchanchyn, Nogueira, Belfort and others and earn $$$ for it.

Look what MA training did for a street-fighter like Kimo.

Also, I would say as a reality so what is the point what is the goal. to see who is the king of the cage among pit fighter and MAs? Plus there are the legalities, the origianl format of teh UFC was shut down and then had to change becuase of the violence. What you are proposing is a weekly should that would cense being an "event" boxing and MMA matches have a few times a year.........shown weekly it won't sell

        Not in South Africa

I get your point and agree with you.
When I was in Italy I was also in the organization of Oktagon which they converted to K1 lately. I worked with Carlo Di blasi who's one of the top organizers in Italy, I have spent nearly eight years taking pictures at the biggest events and fights on the side of the rings. I know the matter quiet well.
First thing, here in South Africa nothing has beeen done yet, I have been to the best kick boxing clubs here and everything is still like things were in Europe more than fifteen years ago. So anything you do, still impresses people here.
Second, we don't want to go fancy and big like those competitions such as, UFC, K1...ETC. I think it will be more interesting because it will involve more the common guys than experienced and famous champions.
So we are busy studying a formula that would look more real and more like something "illegal" without obviously being so. We think that people would be more excited to see a couple of common guys fighting in what it looks more like casual fight rather than known champions in the UFC or K1.
Then again, I do agree with the ring thing, there we will have to find a solution, after all we do not want people to get seriously hurt.
The video footage, even if it will be filmed by professionals will be more like a home made video to enhance the reality feel.
Please give more of your opinions and suggestions.
As soon as we have filmed some I will post it here to have your comments.
This is all new to the South African public, just an example, no one here knows what's "Savate, French boxing"!

Yeah, I think Tyson is going to be able to hit very hard and Knockout most guys he will fight. There are some really good kickboxers that would make a good fight, like Cro Cop, Hoost, McDonald, Aerts...

Take a look in the Thaiboxing and boxing thread. We have older discussions about this.

Tyson WAS going to fight in K-1 but Japan won't issue him a visa. He was supposed to fight Bob Sapp (whom tyson would utterly destroy), in I beleive a NHB rules fight, but it could have been kickboxing rules I don't know for sure
