    WTF IS THIS???

    damn wicked kick

I mean that guy dont know muay thai, does he? I think he's from kickboxin. But seriously If u train fuckin hard muay thai, cud this happen, why? Cud it be the lack of shin conditioning? Lack of... calcium?

P.S. I need information on the white guy, espacially his style. (And the site I can get this info from)

Anything can happen in a fight. Could be a lack of a lot of things including strong genetics.

Dude, this was circulating back in 1999. Makes ya hurt watching, huh? It was a freak thing...I don't think it was due to lack of training, but possibly he could have had a stress fracture from training and it simply hit the bone at the right angle on the right spot and BAM!

That was much probably a Muay Thai fight, the guys had nothing else as protections but gloves, in a Kick boxing fight they would have had the protections at their feet as well!
A low kick is the same for both kick boxing and muay thai, and that guy seemed he gave a state of the art low kick, it looked so powerful and that may be part of the reason why it broke, plus the right angle, plus he must have hit on the other guys knee instead of the shin, plus probably he had already accumulated stress from training and other factors!
A very well conditioned shin does not mean it would not break, we can fight and hit as hard as we can but to a certain extent, beyond that we might get seriuosly hurt! Fortunately in 15 years of watching hundreds of fights and fighting as well, I have never seen or heard such thing, only in that video which I saw few years ago! Thank god it's not something that would happen frequently!

Ok, listen up. I watched that clip at real speed and it seems that white guy did that low kick pretty wrong. First of all, it was slow kick. It was performed with a swing. What gave his opponent time to intercept it. Second, kick hit high (close to the knee), and the leg broke low (close to the foot). I dont really know what part of the shin is stronger, so if you know it, tell us.

P.S. YES, low kicks are still safe, duh....

                        Hempy,

Don't know ya, so I am not insulting you with this but i do have a rebuttal for ya for what it's worth...I don't know what Muay Thai you study, but I have watched the video over several times myself and the kick looks pretty damn good to me. He did not swing or sling it around at all, in fact he did turn his hip into it, maybe didn't pivot the foot enough though. But shit man, when the leather is flyin', technique is not always top priority. The kick was no slower than any other kick by thais or non-thais from what I can tell. What allowed the other guy to cover with his shin is the fact that the guy lead in with the roundkick. He did nothing to set it up, and when that is the case, it is very easy to cover(block). I do agree with you on the area of impact though. It appears the kick hit about just below the knee which it seems to me to be a much stronger part of the shin(I'm no doc, but just kicking thai pads and sparring, leads me to believe this) and the area where he hit was the middle to a little lower. Without asking the guy himself we will never know what happened...but my first impression is still that his shin had been weakened in training prior to the fight and hit the spot directly.

Python, look at the white guy's feet. He did the hip turn with his left, and the right foot is still on the ground. The hip turn and the kick should be done at the same time, so the foe wont intercept it.
