      Jeremy,

My instructor, Sifu Kevin Seaman, is in Cortland. He teaches privates at the Cortland Fitness Center and classes at Cornell, as well as through seminars. He has trained under Ajarn Chai Sirisute for nearly 20 years (he also teaches boxing, Wing Chun, and Jun Fan). Here is a link to his website:

East West Martial Arts HomPage Sifu Kevin Seaman. Since 1984 providing the highest quality martial arts instruction and equipment.

      Hope that helps!

no offence chilly dog, but kevin is a money hungry, scammer. The stuff he teaches is SHIT !, and he is a washed up joke (like chai). I trained under him for 3 years, the only thing i got was some useless, fake muay thai. I did not realize it til i went and acutally trained with a few thais, and they laughed at me because my stuff was so useless. AND i was one of the top students there.

who are you chilly dog i probaly know you, i train at cortland boxing down the street for the fitness center. Give kevin my best regards

No, you don't know me. And no offense taken...your posts speak for themselves.

For those interested in another opinion, I have trained in the martial arts for 20 years, in a variety of styles, with 11 different instructors. I've known Kevin since 1992, and found him to be a competent practitioner, an excellent instructor, and a good person.

If you're interested in training, I would suggest contacting him, seeing what he has to offer, and making up your own mind.

                Reality Check Alex!

REALITY CHECK ALEX!! Fact: Alex Xaver is 16 years old! He was born on Oct 28 1987, he trained at East West Academy with Kevin Seaman for less than 2 years in Jun Fan and sporadically in Thai Boxing as a novice student. His exact history and attendance was from 11/14/01 until 8/14/03. Alex, your total tuition your MOTHER paid during that period was $1,365. That breaks down to $65. per month for 2 structured classes per week+ full use of the 5,300 sq. ft. facility and equipment 5 days a week. That is $2.16 a day. How do I know all this? I’m Kevin Seaman. Alex, you never were or have been anything more than a mediocre martial artist. I have no idea where you have conjured up these fantasies about you being a fighter or a martial arts instructor, but let me explain the reality for you. A martial arts instructor is not a title, it is an attitude, toward what you do, how you do it and who you influence in a positive way. It is about personal interaction and guidance, helping others and mentoring your skills, self-discipline and self-respect. It is about treating others you interact with, with respect and dignity. Alex, and although you were given an abundance of chances by me, and many others, including your parents, you have yet to realize the magnitude of these qualities and how they can affect, both your life and the people you come in contact with daily. It troubles me that you are able to sling insults and lies like mud, without any consciousness as to how you may be perceived and how you will affect others.

As far as the insulting comments about me and Ajarn Chai; Pasted from your post: According to Alex: “no offence chilly dog, but kevin is a money hungry, scammer. The stuff he teaches is SHIT !, and he is a washed up joke (like chai). I trained under him for 3 years, the only thing i got was some useless, fake muay thai. I did not realize it til i went and acutally trained with a few thais, and they laughed at me because my stuff was so useless. AND i was one of the top students there.”

I will address each as they all have relevance as to your delusions. Do you not remember all the times I went in conference with your mother when she wanted to pull you out of classes. I defended you, because I knew you had nothing else to focus on, and I wanted to help you. I also let you work for me, and allowed you to take the equipment you wanted for work-trade. Although your work habits were terrible, I allowed you to continue to help out, believing this would give you some feeling of belonging and help develop your self-esteem. Incidentally, Alex, any person who has to degrade others to build their own self-concept, has a very low self-concept, self-image and self-esteem. I will not even comment on my credentials and the quality of what I teach. I have taught thousands of satisfied students, mentored dozens of adolescents, trained nearly 40 instructors, dozens of full-contact competitors
(some were state, regional and national champions) in Muay Thai, stickfighting , boxing, MMA over a period of 34 years. I have gladly sacrificed, giving of myself to anyone worthy, many times at no cost to the individual and no profit to me.

As far as AJARN CHAI is concerned, how dare you attack a man of his stature and professional credibility. You are truly a DISCRACE to me and everyone who has had contact with Ajarn Chai in the three decades he has been here from Bankok.

                Acording to you Alex:
“Chai's muay thai is poison in MY OPPINION, 90% of the stuff he teaches is his own crap that he made up, and it sucks, its not real muay thai”

Well, you ignorant kid, Ajarn Chai is the student of many Thai Champions, including Fairtex Master Trainer and Living Legend, Apedij Sit-Hirun, one of the chief instructors in Fairtex, Thailand. Isn’t that where you went? To Fairtex West in SF for only one week. Ask Phicheat (Ganyao "Dr. Knee" Fairtex) Arunleung The Director of Training about Ajarn Chai. Ganyao, Sak Kasaam, Bunkerd all know Ajarn Chai and have the upmost respect for him. TAKE NOTICE! Ajarn Chai has well over 30,000 followers, many of who would be less than gracious if they knew what you have said about their Ajarn. The list includes champions, fighters, teahers and students from 14 countries. His organization, “the Thai Boxing Association of the USA” is the only organization outside of Thailand recognized by the KING of Thailand. Isn’t it true Alex that you have never even met Ajarn Chai Sirisute, let alone trained with him.

Your disgraceful, ignorant behavior has upset many people and I will not be responsible for your consequences. I washed my hands of you last year when I heard the demeaning things you told other people about me. You and your self-accredited boxing coach both have some serious emotional problems.
Do not attack me verbally again, either of you. Your behavior is inexcusable!

i have got to go to the gym right now, so i will formulate a reasponce there.
but there are the main points...

i know i am 16 and everyone i train knows it to, that means nothing, i garuntee there are 10 year olds in thailand that know more than you could ever dream of. Age tell you nothing

"I have no idea where you have conjured up these fantasies about you being a fighter or a martial arts instructor" i am a 5 fight amature, and i am more of a fighter than 99% of your "fighters" ever where. I am in the gym 4 hours a day, i acutally (a concept you never understood) go to fights every weekend. And as for an instructor, i never claimed to be an instructor, i claimed that i you get in the gym i will get you in shape and teach you how to fight. I am not about belts and certifications and all of that, because that is not what muay thai is. Muay thai is about being in the gym and working until you can not work anymore, then getting in the rign and showing how much you worked in the gym.

I appreciate all of the stuff you did for me when i was there. but all that did was let me learn bad habbits, that where very difficult to break when i learned the real stuff. and as for the thousands of satisfied sutdents, ect. they are satisfied beacase they are agnorrant about what they where doing.

as for chai. Here are some reasons i dont trust him; He was rich, most rich people dont really want it. He only have 70 something fights, and he never one any worthy championships. And the main reason, it is not thai, bottom line, i cant say it any more clear than that.

I will work on a better sounding responce and have it up tomorrow, and i wish this would have not gone this far, but it did... :-)

                  Nice talking to you again,
                  AlexX

The following is in response to Kevin Seaman’s rant posted on this forum on 7/21/04

Under normal circumstances I would not engage in this petty debate but since we are discussing the infamous Sifu Seaman, I shall give him the respect of an accurate response.

The relationship you have or do not have with Alex Xaver is quite frankly none of my business. The fact that you tried to group us together and insult me just shows your immaturity, but that’s easily solved by a quick debate at 130 S. Main St. – my gym.

Alex Xaver must be doing something correct for he has been invited to train and compete in Thailand. Frankly it’s not Alex’s fault that the leading authorities in Muay Thai think that you and chai teach an out-dated and inadequate style. And also it is certainly not my fault. I know very little about muay thai and I have never on one occasion claimed otherwise. I do know the facts about my involvement:

                        1) you have never trained a thai boxing champion

                        2) your classes sparred maybe once every three months

                        3) you have never competed in thai boxing as a fighter

                        4) no less than 30 of you former/current students have come to me to learn boxing because your thai classes are boring and far too costly.

                        5) I have personally talked to 3 promoters of thai boxing in the USA whom all claim that you never return their calls for fights (over 200 shows per year) yet you have told all of your students in front of me that there are no fights in the USA. I personally have dated for 3 tournaments and 41 muay thai shows over the next 3 months in the US and Canada

As for my credentials, what would you like to know?
Here are some of the facts:

                        1) before the age of 15 I had 31 amateur bouts, including 3 national championships. That should be enough for this discussion

                        2) as a trainer I have trained 2 national champions (including Alex Xaver) 3 golden gloves champions. And I currently train one of the top LT Heavyweights in the state of NY including NYC. (witch I have trained form scratch)

                        3) I am a registered coach with USA boxing and my gym is accredited by the same.

As for you being the moral sifu, here are the facts:

                        1) you left your wife for a student, whom then you for a younger man

                        2) you are 50 years old and playing on the computer bashing an over zealous 16 year old.

                        3) you “train” “fighters” yet you won’t work their corners when they fight. Maybe that’s why they can’t win.

                        4) you have used racial slurs in my presence on no less than 2 occasions

                        5) you lied to a student because you did not want to “take the risk” of letting him train to fight because it was “too much effort with little reward”

Although I cold list many more of your moral failures I shall refrain. Quite frankly I can’t believe I wasted this much time on this.

Therefore, what you are about, sir, is the money. I hope you spend it well. I have doubled the enrollment in which you had at you school, which took you 25 years, in less than 4 months.

I have retrained half the fighters you have trained. Frankly most of is the fighters you have trained can’s be fixed for they are so screwed up.

As for chai, I have never met the man but I am sure he has earned his place. However as for you, you are an instructor, you teach a soft approach, and that is perfectly fine. I am a trainer, I train fighters to fight.

That is a deference you won’t and can’t understand. Why? Because you, sir, teach by theory, not practical application. If you would like to learn how to do that I will be more than willing to make some time for you.

As for your petty little threat about not being responsible for what your guys might do to me or my guys, and we all know that’s what you meant. Because it’s not the first time you have made that threat, maybe you should pull a poodle’s chain before you pull a pit bulls.

By the way my address in 130 S. main st. feel free to respond at anytime.

Hey Jeremey, I'd suggest checking out thaiboxing.com. They have some good links to TBA schools and gyms all over the world. Even some non-TBA links that have good schools and are ranked with the USMTA, UWMTF, Krabi-Krabong, and other non-affiliate schools. I'd recommend an affiliated school of some sort, they usually can get you fighting a lot faster and easier with a lot more pull in the business. Even if you don't want to fight, their teachings will be a lot more accurate to true MT, and the Kru's are usually a lot better. Hope this helps, best of luck in your training!
