Dekker is (was) awesome.. I saw a very interesting documentary about him, how he frustrated all the thai guys because they couldn't beat him
But I belive his height was closer to 5'7".

      He trained like an animal.

On top of that, he (or his trainer) figured out that alot of Thai fighters don't have as sharp western boxing skills and took advantage of that. He could kick as hard as the thais and seemed comfortable in the clinch both delivering and taking knees/elbows.

Professional thaiboxers are hard as nails. Notice that he snaps the heads with his kicks and splits foreheads with his elbows, but the Thai guys keep on going

they called him the "Diamond" for a reason...

yeah the documentary said that the thais couldn't keep up with his western boxing skills
I would really like to see more of dekkers matches, and also see him in training.
Btw, his one and only trainer was core hammers, who has trained several very successful fighters that we see today in for instance pride fc and K-1.

I think Dekkers has allready retired, but you should be able to find old fight videos somewhere. I don't trade videos. I've heard that he mostly trains guys now and helps guys trying to get into MMA on the Golden Glory team.

You can tell from his fights that he prefers the boxing range.

Core Hemmers is a trainer at Mejiro gym in Amsterdam, if I remember correctly.

yeah I saw his last fight on video, it was on too hot to handle III. They said it was his last fight.. after almost 200 matches and serious legproblems, can you blame him?
Oh my he owned that guy from beginning to end.. devastating low kicks and then a clean knock out.

Ah yes, mejiro gym.. many good fighters from there.

              Ramon Dekker

While I was training at the Buddhai Swan Ramon Dekker was on the undercard at a major fight broadcast from Lumpini Stadium. After dominating the entire fight and clearly beating his Thai opponent from round 1 until the end, the unanimous decision went to the Thai. Everyone at the Buddhai Swan roared their disapproval, shut off the television, and went to the bar or restaurant. I do believe he is now retired, and I heard he had over 230 fights in Thailand alone; and remains one of the most respected foreigners ever to fight there. His footwork was amazing, in my humble opinion, sometimes you could not tell if he was fighting left-handed or right-handed. A friend of mine has a Ramon Dekker Greatest Fights tape, but I do not know where he got it from. If I find out, I will post it on this thread.
