  • Mai Thai training in Thailand Fact or Fiction

I have heard that alot of brits and americans go to thailand to train but i want to know which are the ripoff camps and which ones are the commercial ones.

Is it hard to get into a mai tai school ?. If you are a white man the thai's spit on you i hear. When Jean Claude Van damme went to train in thailand to avenge his brothers death all the thais hated him

For mai thai training, I recommend you rent the movie "Cocktail." Who was it...Charlie Sheehan, I forget its been awhile but he plays a bar tender in some resort in the Carribean for single young ladies out to binge party (do I hear a girls gone wild....naah, it was before then)...

    oh.....you meant Muay Thai.

    Wrong thread....sorry

PS - I wouldn't use JCVD's kickboxer as a guid to muay thai. I never saw thai fighters holding the splits underwater, practicing palm meditations or silly looking tai ji

I concur, haha Mai Tai... Tom Yum has quite the sense of humour.

And as for using a hollywood movie with Jean Claude Van Damme in it in reference to which camps are decent, let me put it this way, if he went there in real life I wouldnt believe anything he said about it!

                Sitpholek Gym

                Hi,

I have been to many Muay Thai Gyms in Thailand. I must say the best one I have been is Sitpholek Gym in Pattaya (www.sitpholek.com)

There are several Muay Thai Worldchampions like Wanlop and Leonard Sitpholek fighting for Sitpholek. The famous Thai-fighter Changpuek Kiatsonglit is also working in the Gym as a coach.

                Greetings from Germany
                Arben

This is their US link, but they are in Pattaya as well. This is where my Kru trains in Thailand and Boston, I would love to go there.
