IMO they're about equal. What boxing lacks in kicking it makes up for in good punches and fancy footwork. I'd say take both for the best results.

Like I said a muay thai fighter aren't very mobel do to their stance. So they can't move as fast as a boxer can.
In boxing range, boxing stance...in kicking range...thai kick stance.
Now...yeah, muay thai guys can counter punch...but can a boxer throw a knee to counter a cross? Did not think so.
Muay thai guys can move fast, and will sometimes adopt a western boxing stance when the range is right... the forearms up and apart and front foot forward are all due to the kicking game.
We have all the same footwork as boxing, and then some.
