  • Watch this untrained kid get hit by a thai leg kick

    From Bullshido.

The kicker doesn't even throw full force, but probably hits the sciatic nerve...

If i could compare my shin to something, it would be a bokken (wooden katana)
chop chop. haha... I should make movies and put them on the net... i have one actually... but im drunk as hell and i got my ass kicked LOL, i think i'll keep that one safely on my computer~~

how do u kick that hard?, i mean when i kick the bag it feels hard, but im pretty sure its not that hard cause when im sparring my kicks are never taht powerful. Maybe its cause i wear shin pads.

Do you guys suggest training without them?

I wouldn't necessarily advise sparring full contact without shin protection unless you already have some decently conditioned shins.

Keep kicking that bag, mitts, as hard as you can. They'll harden up.

Also, keep in mind that when your sparring with partners you subconsiously are not going to be trying to hit their legs as hard as you are a heavy bag...at least I hope you don't.

no lol in fact i hold back... i dunno i just dont have it in me i think to go all out on someone who isnt really trying to hurt me.

but i use the shin pads when sparring, would u reccomend taking them off when kicking the bag and stuff, cause usually i jsut throw them on before i go into the gym and keep them on until i leave. Cause my shins are really bony from skateboarding, and like there is barely any skin so like i was worried that would cause problems for them.

Yes, for conditioning I'd kick the heavy bag and pads without shin guards. Sparring with them is okay.

Let your instructor know about the fact you want to start conditioning your shins a bit more. I'm sure he'll give you some helpful tips.

I don't think that guy kicked with max power, maybe 70-80%. If your not used to getting leg kicked, its extremely painfull.

Enzo, if you want to condition your shins kick harder pads. Some of them can be stuffed with a mix of gravel and cloth and weighs about 3 times the normal weight of regular pads.

You might also try some light leg sparring, working up to medium contact.

If you can work up to kicking the gravel pads and move the holder, you probably have decent kicking power. With that kind of power, you can sometimes break regular pads.

well im gonna start training without shin pads, unless sparring, but i was wondering how to throw the kick harder andy little special workouts, to give your legs more kicking power or techniques u guys use to get that extra oomph when throwing that kick, while still keeping form?

As of now i just pivot and drop the knee a bit when throwing it.
