  • Ong Bak 2 (Tom Yum Goong)

Hey, for all you Ong Bak fans, number 2 is almost finished shooting so maybe will be out in North America in 2 years heh. I had a small action scene with Tony Jaa the lead actor so I'm very excited to see it on the big screen. I throw a turning kick at his torso, he kicks my kick, then kicks my groin, then simultaneously knees my chest while elbowing down on my head. It was a dream of mine to be in Ong Bak 2 so I'm happy this happened even if its just a small part.

COOL! Congrats Damian, I hadn't seen you on here much and I wondered how that was going with the Ong Bak 2 thing. Last we spoke on email you had mentioned trying out for a part. Keep at it, small scenes lead to big scenes, huh?! Looking forward to seeing it, keep us abreast of when it will be out on DVD like the first one, I saw it long before it came to the theaters here.

      Peace!

Hey, sorry, Tom Yum Goong is the name of the sequal to Ong Bak. Its also the name of a spicy shrimp soup.

Here's a couple of pics from the shoot. Its just us posing because we arent allowed to photograph the scenes.

thats really cool man, so how many pple tried out for your part? And what did they make u do?

ON a side note, wasn't Ong Bak filmed in 1995? If it was y did it take 8-9 years to get to North America?

Instead of waiting two years, I'm just going to buy a subtitled dvd like I did with ong bak - thank god for ebay.

TYG is not a sequal to Ong Bak but a new story. It will have a world wide release on Aug 5th. I just got back form Thailand and was able to catch the trailer and it looks even beter then Ong Bak.

YuLaw, I have no idea how many people tried out.... sometimes its not the trying out that gets you the job but who knows you or what agent knows you. They made me do pretty much what I described. I kick him, he hits me 4 times and I react and act out the pain until the final hit where I act out getting knocked the fook out and fly backwards.... but the flying part isnt acting... he hits hard. The reason Ong Bak looks so cool is the action is contact, hes real nice during the rehearsal and you think its going to be ok but then when they say rolling.... he starts laying into you heh. I was supposed to get knocked out and fall FORWARD on my face, but he kneed me in the chest hard enough to send me flying backward instead. I got it easy though, there were Thai guys that got elbowed in the face hard or kicked in the head hard..... sucks to be them! We all wear tons of body armor under our clothes so that helps alot... except theres no armor for the face of those Thai guys.

Ooh, ya I had to run up to Tony Jaa and dodge a freaking elephant that was storming towards me... well, it was a baby elephant, but it could have stepped on my foot and caused a bruise!

Thailand is known for its slowness.... if Ong Bak 2 is released August 5th I'll be ecstatic, that will be months sooner than another movie I worked on 10 months ago! Im dying to see myself on the big screen just one frickin time, then I can die happy.

yah i noticed in the first movie that he was actually making contact with the other actors while doing the fight scenes. Adds to the realizism, cause in some Jet Li movies (Romeo Must Die) i could tell that they aren't actually hitting each other.

So u practice TKD? I thoguht u were a Muay Thai guy but after reading your sig. it looks like u do TKD or both. Either way at what level and how amny years have u been practicing?

Hey, I do TKD, Muay Thai, Kung Fu, Grappling, weapons, karate, police and military tactics and a little BJJ when I can. I run a TKD school though and assist in teaching the police and military when the opportunity shows itself. My 2 main arts are TKD and Muay Thai, Ive been training TKD 14 years and Muay Thai about 4 years now and fought in the ring here in Thailand only one time. I dont like labels much but guess Im a TKD guy since I make money off it. Muay Thai doesnt pay much in Thailand!
