  • Bi-weekly classes

I was just wondering how much I can expect to pick up if I take semi-private Muay Thai lessons every other week. Of course going more would be ideal, but time and money are an issue, as I train primariliy in bjj. I am hoping that I can pick up some basics with good lessons every few weeks and do a lot of practicing on my own. Master K (in NJ) is who I would be taking lessons from, and he said that he does give you some "homework" to work on your own.

Just wondering if the basics in MT is something that isn't too hard to pick up. I am not looking to be a MT fighting champ or anything. Just would like to have some good basic stand up skills. Plus doing some striking drills at home would be good for exercising and stress relief Besides, I can't really practice bjj enough on my own at home at a pace that would be a good workout, so I might as well work on something else when not doing bjj.

The basics are really simple. Thaiboxing is really straightforward until you get into the more advanced things. But if you're looking to just learn how to punch, kick, elbow, knee, etc. You shouldn't have a problem

Swisscom is correct. Bi-weekly is better than not at all, and if you are not planning to compete on a serious level, then yes, you will be able to pick up quite a bit, just keep working it at home in between classes.

Well like the tiger flame and tiger uppercut (ryu won't see what hit him).

My advice is, by all means, DO IT! Master K is a simply INCREDIBLE coach! You would be doing yourself an injustice by NOT going! What the others have said is correct. Since you train primarily in BJJ, and don't really have any aspirations of fighting Muay Thai, once every other week or so is plenty. And like "K" said, he'll give you homework.

While you're at it, please give "K" my regards!!! Tell him "Khun Kao CUT Charuad" (using that FULL name is important here!) say's "HI!".
