Ok then I ask this question. God forbid you are ever in a evacuation shelter like the Super Dome. You have your family there with you and in the middle of the night some scum bag fuk hole tries to Rape you wife what are you going to do? I for one would defend myself and my family any way I could. and how often is that going to happen. Scenarios like that, that, you're very right, deserve and infact call for lethal force are very, VERY rare.
It is good to be able to have the ability to go there, but at the same time, being able should not always entail being willing.

i.e. outside of a few choice scenarios, killing is for COMBAT and defense against a true threat to onesself or one's loved ones...which is not bound to happen to most of us in our life times.

As for the more common scenarios of fights, a fight is a fight, not combat...but if there is more than one person coming at me, or somebody is armed...I will try my best not to nik anything vital, as the altercation has escalated, but they didn't have the initial intention of taking my life, I should, perhaps, just hamstring the fuckers.
I will generally only pull a knife or a weapon if somebody is armed, has pals around, or gives me the impression that if I don't kill or hurt them REALLY bad I might not get out alive.

Most confrontations are just pugilism. Fuckers get drunk, or otherwise beligerent, and want to toss...that's okay, I'll be happy to beat the shit out of them or take a beating...but if I pull a knife...I'm going to prison, and they, along with whoever tries to pull me off of their prostrate body (aside from a friend or loved one of my own), are going to either the hospital of the morgue.

Pull...no threats, no posturing...get close and pump...quick hard thrusts...or if they're armed, meet (defang), follow, pass, jam, or zero pressure and then slice and stab until the medics come and drag him out from under me.

I don't like the sight of blood...but I HATE the sight of my own.
If they're a true threat to myself or my loved ones...I have no problem eviscerating them and strangling them with their own cords.

I've had something like this happen once. An ex-cop (well he claimed to be one anyway, my money's on ex-asshole turned douchebag.) threatened my ex and her friends, biggish guy probably around 200-220 with a gut. Threw a punch only to be met with a swift roundhouse to the ribs and then a sweep to the leg and a punch to the jaw when he hit the ground.

At the time, all I could think about was the safety of my loved ones. NOBODY throws an undeserving strike at anybody I know and gets away with it without a fight.

When I think about muggers and rapists and violent offenders I see merely people who have given up their right to peace as they have taken others. They should be punished completely. escalation of force on an attacker is often times in this day and age futile. trying to reason with your attacker will often cause to lash out more ferosciously. they don't have time to talk. when you attack any opponent that has a purpose you must give him all you have if that means immediate fatal attacks then that's what it means.

I agree with this for the most time but I have rarely seen an occasion where the minimal amount of force truly does deter a predator. I shared the exact same view until my friend was mugged and brutally beaten and then I saw things differently. I am not saying take the law into your hands and hunt down street predators, I am merely saying show them no mercy if they prey on you. the best way to deter these guys is to give them an experience that makes them rethink their actions and may possibly save others from being preyed upon in the future.

if you continue to attack someone after they have been restrained then you become the attacker and revenge doesnt hold up well as a defense in a court of law
doesnt mean they wont be in trouble for whatever they did

because you are martial arts trained is reason enough to be convicted legally, but morally i understand and you can not be convicted morally.
I believe if you beat the person shitless they will no longer have any taste for their evil actions. they need to face a life threatening situation to force the decision to change.

I or we did not create the world we live in, we only need to survive. If a person attacks my family one of the women or god forbid one of the children and I am there to defend them I will. I am not talking about hunting them down; I am only talking about defending my family friends and fellow peoples. There is countless court cases where the same situation has happen and the jury finds for the defense. Every thing we are talking about here is DEFENCE. Even this board is called defend.net.

If I was on a jury and a case about a rapist getting the shit kicked out of him by the defendant because he or she defended them self and caused serious damage to the rapist. Then I would say NOT GUILTY.
