I finally found a Thai Boxing school in Maryland: Maryland Thai Boxing Association. From what I've seen on the internet and briefly talking to Mr. Anderson, the head instructor, it sounds like a good school. Has anyone ever trained there?
I currently train in BJJ and have searched for a decent stand-up style for sometime now. In the past, I trained in Karate, TKD, and Kenpo. Although effective, the styles and application did not work for me. Although I would rather lick a toilet bowl clean then spar a veteran of these arts, I didn't find it practical for me to stand in the horse-stance and throw punches that were chambered under my arm pits. I also realize that kata's play an important part in martial arts, but they were always so boring for me. It was no wonder why the sparring nights had twice as many students attend then non-sparring/kata nights.
I hoping that MT lives up to my expectations and, from what I've seen, it will. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Big Kahuna
