  • judging skill?

I'm singing up for a MT seminar and one the questions they ask is what skill(advanced, int. level 2, int. level 1, begginer) you consider yourself. I don't want to end up in a 2 day seminar with people way better or way worse than you. So if you'll please give me your opinions... I'll start with my pros then move to the cons. I'm a very agressive sparrer, I attack constantly at a flurry of angles. I seem to have a quicker natural reaction to attacks because I can read my oppenents footwork and shoulders. All my strikes have good power. CONS, the techniques I learned with my old class are diffrent from my new class, for instance I originally learned to spike teeps or catch them, so I'm sort of behind with some things. I'm not good at doing planned out drills where you don't get to think for yourself. I'm not good at holding the pads for powerful kickers because I get nocked around too much.

    thanks

      Passive,
I once asked my instructor how he judged fighting skill, and he said "If the guy kicks a$$, he's got fighting skill." As far as whether or not to attend the seminar, I'd say you should go. You'll always benefit from seeing what others do. Just be ready to ice your forearms after the day is done! Learning to hold pads well is a skill unto itself, and it can be a pretty brutal experience in the beginning.

Go to the seminar! don't try to live up to any expectations, just have fun and learn something. what's important is that you will gain valuable experience. that's what this whole thing is about.
