This is a picture of two of Master Chai's sisters, Tak & Tik, plus Net cooking for us. I don't know if they are all coming this year, but definitely Net will be here.

2 things to consider
Number one, just like when you are sneaking a snack at school and you get caught: did you bring enough for everyone? And the second thing, training doesn't start until the 28th anyway, so you should have enough time to go into town and get something.

Getting ready one more time
A couple of weeks ago I went down to Salem to help Bruce Raymer get the showers ready for his brother-in-law, Steve Hale, to rebuild them. We went out to the storage unit in Stayton, took everything out except some of the heavy bags and refrigerators. There was a lot of stuff to move. The showers were stored in the back because we have been at Camp Wilkerson the past 2 years and haven't needed them. It only took a couple of hours of lifting and grunting, about like the morning workout...lol We loaded all the pieces into his pickup, tied it down, and put all the extraneous BS back in the shed. We left the stalls in a stack in Bruce's driveway. I later went back and we washed everything down, sanded them lightly, and repainted after Steve and Bruce had rebuilt everything so we can move them to site and install them in about 1/3 the time it usually takes. (We hope) There will be 2 showers in the men's room and 1 in the women's. Most people will probably still go down to the big solar shower, but they will get used. Temperatures at Silver Falls were over 100F today, but we are hoping for low 80s by the end of the month. The park does have its own website for those who are curious.

Silver Falls is the largest state park in Oregon, and is infinitely bigger than Camp Wilkerson, which was only a few acres. The main showers are 1 1/2 miles downhill from where we camp. Lots of people drive, plus we usually run a shuttle van back and forth for anyone who wishes to shower, depending on the time of day. This is a well-used park, so sometimes there is a waiting line for the showers. You will see it is completely different; for one there are tourists driving up and watching workouts almost every day. The runs are along the main road to several other group areas, like the YMCA Conference Center and the horse camping areas. Cell phones do not work at our site, so we sometimes will drive down to the pay phones or up to the lookout where cell phones will reach. Bring a swimsuit, usually we take a tour down to South Falls and if it is hot you will want to swim in Silver Creek.

Time is getting short; hope everyone is well and everything is going smoothly.
After getting to camp, I suppose I report to their park registration desk and sign in? Then what happens? Set up a tent and sleep until it's time to run?

Anyone driving, either from the airport or from out of town: you can save about 40 minutes of travel time, and have a much more scenic trip, if you do the following: Take I-205 S, at the exit for Hwy 213 (exit 10) go South, through Silverton, straight to Silver Falls State Park. At the entrance to the campgrounds (on the East) the route # changes to Hwy 214. This is where you will turn into the training areas, which is at the New Ranch. You can always go via freeway to Salem, then take Hwy 22, but it is slower by far. Master Chai again wants me to remind everyone to please drive safely. See you next week.

Park entrance
Should we use the North entrance to the park? I'm guessing so from the earlier posts. Do these directions look reasonable?
Thank You!

Heh, so if the car we were going to drive in broke down this morning, and we're now going to fly into Portland, we catch a fellow camp goer or the shuttle to Salem, then wait for the bus or a fellow camp goer, right?
Oh yeah, and do we need tents? Last year it was ok if you didn't have a tent.
