This is a view of Mount Hood from the West, along I-205. Most camp attendees will get this view on the ride from PDX to Salem. Silver Creek Falls, the largest state park in Oregon, is located to the South and West of Mt Hood, or to the right in this photograph. If you wish, you can ski on Mt Hood 12 months a year. Just 2 weeks ago the snow level was down to 4500 feet, but Silver Falls is considerably lower and warmer.
Bob Carver, President of the Thai Boxing Association of Canada, and long-time Fighters' Group Instructor at the camp pictured with trainer/manager par excellence Angelo Dundee just a couple of days ago at Khru Bob's school in Ottawa. Mr Dundee has trained at least 17 World Champion boxers. Bob is coming this year, and hopefully will be prepared to share his vast knowledge with everyone.
I believe my information is outdated. What I have is:
NW: Professor Leonard Trigg
NC: Rick Faye
NE: Don Garon
SW: Dave Rawlings, Ajarn Dan Inosanto or ??
SC: Darian Whitaker
SE: Sifu Francis Fong
Sorry I cannot be of more help. Surely someone else is more current than I?
Thanks to Tracy Shank of Pittsburgh for this picture of Ajarn Dan at the Powwow in 2003. We have had the same Indians dancing for us every year. This year may be the last for Jesse, who has been with us since he was a young teen. He has a very serious disease and will dance no more. That is him behind the young girl in the center. Unfortunately, I have no more pictures of him to share.
Here is Master Chai wandering around before morning workout, still slightly chilled. He is undoubtedly asking people how they are feeling, and telling everyone to relax and have fun. Again, thanks go to Tracy from Pittsburgh for sending me these photos. There are lots of them and my PC is not working correctly (it belongs to another person) so I gave the disc to Dan Burke and he is emailing them to me a few at a time for the next 5 weeks. I hope I don't bore too many of you. Also I have included a pic of Natalie from Santa Fe. I owe one to her because last year she was on the plaque list and we didn't get her one. Master Chai saw her name and promised her we would, but I had to remind him (sorry about this Natalie) that he had me put her name there as part of an elaborate trick to find where she had her tent so we could move it during lunch. So you see, while the campers are using a lot of physical energy, Master Chai still has plenty left. It is kind of a backwards badge of honor to be so selected, although the cooks' helpers who went to Salem and got drunk the year we decided to just turn their tent 180 degrees might not have thought so. It sure was funny watching them try to find the zipper, after all, their shoes and the mud mat were right there...
Gee, Silver Falls sure looks nice! Wow, just look at all that beautiful scenery which could only be at Silver Falls. Isn't Silver Falls a great place to have camp everyone?
Again this year all Full Instructors have been given permission to assign pushups. Just kidding of course, I think actually everyone is doing bodybuilders.
