  • thanks for the link, Khru Brian. I loved camp this year, and like everyone has said there was a tremendous amount of information presented. As impossible as it seems to me, every year for the past 17 it has gotten better. I can promise from all of us involved, next year it will again be better. 40 years ago Grandmaster Sirisute came to the United States with a dream. Everyone doing muay Thai has benefitted. I can only hope the art continues its growth in the US, and with luck our children will be coming to the camp someday, and we will have started a tradition of excellence. Thanks to everyone. See you next year

    • Thank You

      Khuen Kru Brian,
Thank you so much for all of the tips that you shared with all of us at the camp. I was just typing my notes out today and wish that I would have taken my video recorder to the camp to tape your sessions, because they were so helpful to me and I was so exhausted at the end of the day that I know I forgot some things. Your sessions and Khuen Kru Greg's clinch sessions were AWESOME, and we came back to our Academy inspired, motivated, and excited to practice everything we had learned.
Every year when I go to thai camp it gets better (even though I always think that it can't possibly get better). We are already looking forward to next year!

      • OR camp chef - thanks for posting the video. Does anyone know where to find a video of the complete ceremony?

        Thanks,

        • Photos of 2007 Oregon Camp

Here are some photos taken by my friends who came to help in the kitchen and to play the drums for us. Special thanks go from me to them (also thanks to Kalahi Academy for hiring me to teach their muay Thai program) and to Dr Chris and Christy Trachsel (a RN) for diagnosing my peanut allergy and giving me antihistamines. As usual, the kids made the camp special. See you all again next year.

              • Thanks for all the pics. I'm jealous. I couldn't make it this year due to too much drama, but I'm looking forward to next. Looks like everyone had a great time again.

                • 18th Annual Pacific Northwest Muay Thai Camp

                  WOW............
This is pretty cool, I think. 18 years is a long time, and much credit goes to those who have given a lot over the years to help promote and teach the art of muay Thai here in the United States.
As ever, Master Chai will invite those he wants to the camp. Also, we are again at Camp Wilkerson; located in Oregon about 18 miles south of Longview, WA. This year, as in 2000, there will be afternoon krabi-krabong taught by Colonel Nattapong. Anyone wishing to jump-start their camp might consider coming for 3 days to my krabi-krabong camp. It is from July 11 through the 13, and will offer 15-18 hours of intensive training. If you are interested, please contact tcma.biz
My special thanks to Ajarns Surachai Sirisute and Dan Inosanto for encouraging me to continue promoting Krabi-Krabong, and their unwavering support through the years.

                  • Hotels/motels

Master Chai has urged me to stress to anyone desiring rooms at a hotel or motel during the 18th Annual Pacific Northwest Muay Camp to contact Dan Burke soon. Longview, Kelso & Rainier are filling/full.

Sound off here if you're going to make it out.

                      • I know a good group from Oregon is planning on attending. I don't mean that in any sort of affiliate way, there's simply a good number of people that are going to enjoy the camp this year. Going to be one of the biggest all around I think.

My wife (Audrey) and I plan on attending and are thrilled to be invited as well. Camp is always an excellent time and its rewards are felt throughout the whole year.

Looking forward to it, hard to believe it's coming up so fast!

                        • I brewed beer (again) for the last day. It should turn out to be a very hoppy IPA. Can't wait.

                            • "Time Waits For No Man"

That was bar none, one of the best Camps I have ever attended. Thank you guys so much for everything. The food, though always spectacular, seemed to be even a step above anything it's been before. The instruction was phenomenal.

The coordination between stations was really out of this world. I loved learning something like a shoulder shove from Khuen Khru Greg Nelson from the clinch and then seeing a slightly different set up from Professor Trigg for that same move. Or seeing a "Batman" to an overhand right from Professor Trigg and then drilling that move again at Khuen Khru Dobbler's station but with a straight knee follow up.

Over and over again, I saw this coordination, reinforcement and overlapping of techniques. Khuen Khru Mateo would show the Thai Four Count while moving right during the fake left hook and attacking the back of the left leg with the right kick and then you'd move down a station or two and see Khuen Khru Wijers show the Thai Four Count and have us pivot our right leg back while faking the left hook to set up a right kick to the front of the right thigh or to the liver.

Thank you all so much for making this possible, for putting it together and for making it one of the best training camps (MMA, Thai Boxing, Submission Wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu) I've ever attended across the board!

                              Long live the TBA!
