whats up guys, im just stopping in for some advice.
ive been training thai/kickboxing (mostly thai) for about 5 months now. My training in the gym is going great, i feel myself improving everday. Im 6'2 250 pounds and im a pretty muscular kid, i wouldnt consider myself fat by any means. Basically I want to start competing in a couple of months and im just wondering what you guys do for roadwork and if there are any other activities like running besides shadow boxing that will help me not get gased as much as I do. During sparring I can go for a long time and I figure this is because were not going full out just enough to work on stuff and let the person know he/she got hit. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Heavy bag/pad training is essential. If you can do 3 rounds on a heavy bag (all out but not just swinging like an idiot or roid rager) youre in good shape. Id greatly suggest speed squats (doing squats very fast but with full ROM). Jump rope, duck walks, bike riding, etc is good.

250 lbs is hard to be all muscle at 6"2. (dont mean to sound like a dick but im being honest).

Most thai boxers are skinny. If you really wanna be a good boxer, lift 2-3 times a week and concentrate on better cardio.

My other 2 cents, is that training for 7-8 months once a week in a style doesent make you ready to compete. If you train a lot then its a different story. Its not like a white belt karate soft touch competition. The under 18 comps are pretty bad a** too and with only 8 months of training you could get hurt. I cant tell if youre ready or not but be smart about it. Other then that, good luck.

i took your points with critisim no problem, i train about 5 to 6 days a week and im 20 years old. As for my wieght im 250 @ 6'2 with about 18 percent body fat. Its not a low body fat but its standard for a person my age. Im cutting wieght at the moment im trying to get to about 205 in a couple of months. As for competing im not doing anything crazy, just local am fights, I also train 2 or 3 times a week in boxing along with my thai training. The heavy bag rounds i def agree I can go maybe about a round and a half before getting tired and then towards the third round im pretty beat. as for now a morning session is run for about 20 minutes (mostly a light jog) with 3 rounds of jump rope and then some plyometrics. Then my night time will include heavybag/ pad training along with squats, moving lunges, jump rope, instruction ( 4 days a week), shin conditioning at least once a week, sit ups, push ups. Do you guys think wieght training is a good idea or light wieght training, none at all? I used to play baseball in highschool and I lifted a lot and thats how i got my size. so i know when im cutting lifting is not a great idea because muscle adds wieght. I appreciate your critisism and its welcomed i wont take anything harshly, after all i did ask, i just figured id give a lil more insight on my training for more detailed advice maybe?

Weight training 2-3 times a week is a good idea. Id say do a full body each time. If you want a good routine just ask. Youre training hard as hell bro. Honestly, if you really push yourself in your training at that pace, youre in awesome shape.

I'd say you're doing a good job, we train 5-6 days a week, and I know how it feels to be at 7-8 months on that schedule. I'd say follow their advice with the lifting and running, but one more thing: Right now you're thinking, "I'd like to compeat in the next 3-4 months" but I'd say break one year, evaluate you're progress, then go for a fight in 3 months. That's even kinda lax for us, my bro will train someone for a fight they've got coming if they come in, but he doesn't like us to compeat before 3 years, and we train 5-6 days a week, 3-5 hours a day plus jogging.
