Has anybody been to any of the muay thai training camps in phuket?

I hav been looking at a couple and generally the price is ranging from 15000-20000 baht per month including standard accomodation. Im not sure if this is reasonable price or not, and what their definition of standard accomodation is???

Also wondering if any of the girls out there have been to one of these camps. If so id really appreciate any feedback, as im still a bit vague as to what to expect.

That sounds a little pricey to me - 20,000 bhat works out to something like 700 Aussie dollars. When I was in Chiang Mai I paid 7000 bhat for training and 3000 for a basic room (private shower/toilet and air-con). Things are going to be more expensive in Phuket, it being a resort town.

I was at Phuket camp in Feb. Price depends on time of year, more expensive starting in October/November. 20000 is about right there-including training. The bungalows are priced about right for the surroundings, but some are much better than others.
The training was good, as far as I could tell, but management was so full of shit, i would be looking elsewhere. If you reserve a room there, and confirm it multiple times, don't count on actually getting one when you get there. Do not, do not above all esle, accept the secondary guesthouse they will send you to when you get there and they have no space. They will try to double charge you whenever they can and don't listen to anything they promise you, such as a certificate....

It has just been confirmed that Pedro Lott from Brazilian Top Team in Rio will be training at Chay-yai Gym for a year from 14th Feb. He will be sharpening his Muay Thai skills and also teaching BJJ twice a day. Pedro was 3x champ of Rio and 2005 Brazil Team Champ.
Training and accomodation at the camp is 10000 baht, the camp is close to swimming pool, markets, cinema, internet cheap food places etc. Three guys from Vos (Ernesto Hoosts gym in Holland) are training at the gym at the moment.
I will be here for another few months if anyone has questions or needs help just contact me. A one year visa invitation can also be organised for those that want to stay a long time.

His camp must be very new? Do you know much about it? Its the first i have heard of it, (or him) though we are at the other end of the country.
Is there someone actually teaching BJJ there? Do they have any Muay Thai fighters now?

I'm also bemused that Fairtex supposedly bought most of their champions. It's been only recently that some fighters who were regarded as past their prime were offered to Fairtex. These fighters were "reconditioned" into better fighters. TeeLek was attached to the transfer of Attachai who undoubtedly has great talent. It would be difficult for TeeLek to regain his former glory. Fairtex is undoubtedly the best equipped muaythai gym in the world, but as far as being wealthy, Sor Pleonchit's owner could give Mr. Wong a run for the money, so to speak.
I do agree that it's extremely difficult for a trainer to have successfully trained 20 champions of Ratchadamnern stadium and Lumpini stadium

I know you train train there and didnt mean to offend you.I trained there for six months before a few years ago(it want so flash back then), Kaow was only 15years old then and just a prospect. Your right its a great facilitity and the training is very good.
You would have to agree Mr Wong is a very very wealthy man, ten years ago the gym and equipment was more or less a hobby. He is involved in over 100 businesses in thailand, many bars nights clubs in Bangkok and Pattaya, a chain of photo developing shops, the sole imported of popcorn to Thailand and his involvement in the garment industry. Gyms in Japan, resort in Pattaya, gyms in USA and worldwide distribution of Fairtex equipment. He is not starving...Ask Anthony how many other businesses he is involved in, not just the gym.
Attachai is a great fighter, has he improved at Fairtex??? He was fighter of the year before in Thailand a couple years ago. Still top ten, know doubt. At Pattaya he was trained by Mongkoldech Sitthepitak(BEE)whao wad head trainer at Pattaya who is now training again at Chay-yai gym. (Attachai is Chay-yais cousin and trained with when he was younger.) Tee Lek was also great, im sure they took him thinking he would fight on. He is a brilliant fighter, unfotunately breaking his leg a second time has put his career to an end. I believe he trains Attachai now?? I wouldnt say the were sold because they were washed up because by all accounts Fairtex paid big money for them. Yodsanklai was a great buy from Petchyindee, i bet he didnt come cheap, Naruepon another good buy, previous Lumphinee champ Neungsiam Fairtex was bought from Sasiprapa. Kaow is the one they have trained themselves since he was young, and he is a fantastic fighter. Jongsanan was brilliant and trained there since young( a long time ago) but his trainer is no longer involved in the sport and go married and settled down with a lady with a chicken restaurant
Regardless it is a good gym, Jaket is a tough trainer also Com who has now left, the facilities are second to none and the training good, if you can afford it.
Make sure you look me up if you are in Chiang Mai buddy and we will do some training and drink a few cold ones

It depends on how long you are staying, for example you could get all your training Muay Thai and BJJ and own room for between 12000-14000 baht per month (300-350US). If you were coming for one day you could do Muay Thai in morning and BJJ in evening for 400 baht (10US). Pedro will be avaliable to teach a few private lessons as well.

Dear shark, I'm aware that you've trained at fairtex. You posted about this some time ago. However, I was bemused when you over stated the facts. I do admit that Mr. Wong is very wealthy, but may be not the most wealthy owner of MT gym as you've stated. You should check out Khun Sathien of Sor Pleonchitcamp.
Another fact that you got complete wrong is about Nuengsiam Fairtex. Nuengsiam started at the Fairtex at a very young age of about nine or ten, and was never contracted by any camp in Bangkok. At that time, the camp also used the name Loogklongbangkaew, which is the district where the camp is located. He and Jongsanan and Rerngjai (Potae) were thre three musketeers of the camp when it moved there. His father is still with Fairtex, so you can recheck my information. Nuengsiam, his dad and I know each other very well. Incidentally, I assume that you're talking about Kaew, since Kaow is the young brother of Kompayak, and is presently fighting at 25kg.

As for Attachai, he is indeed very talentd. That's why Mr.Wong was willing to pay a very high tag for him and accepted TeeLek as attachment. Yes, I do see improvements on Attachai since the day he arrived at Fairtex. Infact he lost a couple of fights before he settled down. Although he'll never be as good as in his hay days, he is receiving attention in modern nutrition and physical fitness by an exMr. Universe.
I think Petchyindee camp sold Yodsaenklai because they thought he was on the down road. He was kept at 128-130lbs, and you know how tough this division is. Mr. Wong allowed him to blosom into much higher weight division. In his first two fights, he lost to Nopadej. Mr.Wong continued to groom him, and gave him opportunities to fight for titles both Lumpinee and WBC.
Naruepol also improved a lot since joining Fairtex. He has talent , but became more polished with attention to nutrition and proper physical preparation.
Now, would the previous camps, where Attachai and Naruepol belonged to, have given their fighters scientific nutrition such as post workout protien/carb drink etc.? I doubt it. You just need to ask these fighters if they like how they are fed and trained.
BTW are you a PR of Chai Yai camp? (that's how it's pronounced) ie receiving cuts or commission when you make a training reservation for the camp? I'm not on Fairtex payroll, and pay for my training there. Oh, I have on several occasions, reccommended that trainees look for Chay Yai camp in Chiangmai over Lanna camp. So I do know that Chay Yai camp is very good.
Finally, I also hope that I've not offended you, and thank you for you invitation for a few laughs over cold ones. I do have a cottage in Chiangmai which I built for my son when he was attending Chiangmai University. My wife still lives there looking after my rottweilers and pugs.
