  • Looking for a gym in Phx, AZ

I am looking for a place to train in Phoenix and wanted to know if anyone had any ideas.

2 Places are listed on thaiboxing.com

sitangymaz.com in mesa and Bangkok Muay Thai in Phoenix.

The instructor at Sitan gym seemed cool when I talked to him.

Just wanted to see if any forum members have any ideas or recommendations on these two schools or any others I may be overlooking.

    thanks

Anyone have any recommendations for a stand up gym in Phoenix?

I went to the Sitan Gym and the instructor and the students were all friendly. The only problem is that it is 35 miles from my house. So any gym recommendations to look at before I make my decision would be appreciated.

I only know ninjas and escrima guys in Phx, but you should come to the Oly lifting class this Sunday. http://www.crossfitsouthwest.com/events_wrokshops.htm then scroll down

          Azcs

I have been at AZCS for about 8 months. It is a great place for kickboxing and jujitsu. The instructors are great and the students are helpful towards one another.

Thanks for the info, but I can not train at ACS. I already train BJJ at another local school so it would be a conflict of interest. It is also no closer to my home than the Sitan Gym.

Zenshin- do you train with Roufus? If so how is it? Is it standard kickboxing or does he teach muay thai with elbows and knees?

I am from NYC, but my cousin been there, he lives in Phoenix he said the training is intense Rico Rodriuez ( however you sell it) trains there a lot and teaches sometimes BJJ there with his Asst. instructor. The Kickboxing thee is real good it is more of a K-1 method he told me not traditional Muay Thai more of Dutch Muay Thai, he also told me Roufus teaches all his classes, this was a while ago he told me the cost was 100 month BJJ training is a nother program.

the RITC center in tempe has a really good thai boxing instructor named Rick Jones and I have been with him for about a year and a half and the best I have trained with, the other gym that I would recommend is Sitan gym, Thiago is a very good instructor and has a lot of good fighters, but I would check out the Rage in the Cage center first.

in the phx area ritc center would be the top choice for muay thai...just because it's mainly a mma school dont let it fool you...the muay thai instructor is top notch and is seperate from the mma and bjj program they just share the building.

There's a USAW coach in Mesa, too, if anybody needs extra strength training. I'm no genius, but I know genius when I see it--and this coach is amazing.
